I’ve been referred to urology after a urine infection has hung around after 11 weeks, antibiotics not clearing it.
I’m just wondering what to expect at the urology appointment. I haven’t been given a date or anything, I was just told this morning at my GP that they’re going to refer me.
Any experiences and advice anyone can give me would be really appreciated, as I’m feeling quite anxious about it now!
Thank you.

I've seen 2 urologists and neither were interested in UTIs so didn't help, however the urology nurse was more useful as he prescribed low dose long term antibiotics and if that didnt work there are other meds to keep urine sterile.
You might get an ultrasound or CT to check for kidney stones and possibly a cystoscopy but first appt is likely just chat.
Try D-mannose. It is exceptional for uti's. Bacteria latch onto it like a food source and pass out with urine.
Make sure there's not mold or a water damage at your home or workplace, that can give relentless bladder infection. If microbes are at play oftentimes high histamine foods like blueberries will trigger the bladder infection/pain/bleeding also.
I also use D-Mannose with fantastic success. Can't recommend it highly enough. If I do get a UTI/bout of cystitus (usually after sex) I increase the D-Mannose and also take ibuprofen as it reduces the inflammation. The two combined knock it on the head within a few hours.
However the other big turning point for me after decades of frequent UTI's/cystitus was giving up caffeine! I know, what a nightmare thought! I lived on tea (didn't drink coffee at all). Never thought I'd give it up until I had an ongoing low level UTI for months, and suddenly realised it felt worse after a cuppa! Gave it up there and then and UTI disappeared. I have now taken up coffee (LOL) but only one a day, and the slight sensitivity/discomfort that it causes is so mild that I'm happy to live with it.
Thank you for the advice! Since this whole business started I’m on a diet of water and cranberry juice lol, I read about caffeine so stopped immediately, I miss it!! Will look into D-Mannose thank you.
Just a quick point from an old hand with UTIs... most cranberry juice is high in sugar, which more than cancels out any of the benefits!
My prescription: water and herbal teas, no caffeine, D-Mannose, ibuprofen in emergencies (and if it's caused/exacerbated by sex there are other specific things you can do around that which reduce the likelihood of a reaction).
