Hi Everyone really need some advice I have had urine infection for around a month now on my 5th lot of antibiotics I feel better when I am on them then as soon as I stop taken them the infection flares up again, I had few white blood cells on the last sample the doctor checked does this mean I have an infection or is it just nitrates being found mean an infection. I had my urine sent off to the lab and everything was normal also I had swaps taken and all normal not sure the doctor said could be irritation on the skin from urine but not sure as can be very painful. I brought some urine tests what do I need to look out for if infection is there.

Help on going urine infection

You could ask to try long term low dose antibiotics, I took them for 2 years and not had a problem since.
Thank you for your reply did you have the same problem bless you that is a long time on antibiotics which ones did you take I didn’t know you can take antibiotics for this long.
Low dose antibiotic is a common treatment, I had Trimethoprim prescribed by my urologist. There are also meds that keep urine sterile to prevent infections but I didn't need them in the end. You need to see a Urologist if it persists.
I’m currently on a three month course of antibiotics and will then start Hiprex maybe forever which keeps urine sterile so I’ve been told by my urologist.
I am going to call my doctor this afternoon after work see what they say. I was on really strong antibiotics before these ones I am taking so I took 3 days worth of the current ones I am taking but symptoms came back. I didn’t know you can get medicine to keep urine sterile does it help you. I brought cystitis relief sachets do you think they are good.
Over the years I have taken so many antibiotics and probably have constant UTIs. This suggestion by my urologist was after removing the second lot of benign tumours from my bladder. I have no symptoms of UTIs probably had so many over the years I am immune to the symptoms. I’ve tried sachets, cranberry juice only antibiotics work in the long term. Ask about Hiprex or something like it
Hi I would suggest to add embedded/chronic uti group on facebook if you have not already. Best info available and lots of help there to find correct specialists.
Hope this helps. I have had interstitial cystitis for over 30 years. It is a chronic disease that feels like a UTI but never any evidence of one. I was getting meds directly into my bladder by a catheter. It would help for about 8 weeks. Then my urologist recommended a natural med called UQORA. It’s actually for chronic Urinary infections. It has been a miracle pill for me. I live in the USA, but I found out you can get it in the UK through passport shipping. It’s totally worth a try. 2 pills twice a day. The bottle contains 60 pills for $28. I specifically use the bottle called Control. My symptoms were relieved after 3 days!!! Best of luck,Lori Ann
Thank you for your help I will have to try these pills if I get worse again, I have not spoke to my doctor yet just finished my antibiotics and I feel my symptoms are getting better I am not having to run to the toilet and burning pain has gone. Was the worst feeling I woke up the other night and had the worst burning pain. What were your symptoms.
Pain and frequency. Since I have been on these pills there is no pain. They are specifically made for UTI and I can go up to 3 hours before I have to urinate. They have been a Godsend for me
I don't know white blood cells means some infection somewhere or just faulty immune system like mine. I reckon I got bugs and I got biofilms where the bugs have dug in permanently just live with it plus some extent plus hormonal bladder issues and bowel. Just have to keep testing and drinking fluids going to loo a lot
