My other half has been put on blood thinners etc after 3 stents and a previous heart attack. They were due to start 60mg cimbalta/ duloxitine for other illness oain, and now have been told that this might nit be viable as a meds mix with the heart meds as it could lead to significant bleeding internally from accidental Injury and bruising. This would leave rhwm with a difficult choice between every day levels of high pain or bleeding internally.
Has anyone experience of any of this or advice please ?
Thanks

have you or your other half spoken to a pharmacist about this? Pharmacists are the specialists as far as drug side effects and inter-reactions are concerned. If you live in the UK your doctor’s group of surgeries employs a pharmacist who would be in a good position to advise you.
We did try that. He was completely uninterested and basically said to do what ever the Doc had said, the doc is then hedging her bets on what the cardiologist says in 3 weeks. Thank you for the reply tho.
Hi Happy RosieI had a heart attack last year in Barcelona and they inserted a stent.
I was on Duloxitine before and after and have had no issues being prescribed in Spain & over here in the UK. Is this decision based on new & solid research. If so do you have any details, so that I can show it to my GP?
Thank you and I hope your husband is recovering well.
This was info that the Doc repeated when questioned, so I guess we will wait for the cardiologist and see if they can enlighten us on any new info. If so I will definitely pass it on. Thanks
Duloxetine is an antidepressant and although it is a modern antidepressent, it's safety profile and intraction with other drugs are less than other similar product. Firstly I would advise you to read the leaflet that is inserted in the package. Drug companuies are very cautious if interaction with other medication. However if there is any mention about interaction, you ought to bring it o attention to your G.P.
Duloxetine is also used for neuropathic pain as well as an antidepressant And it can cause internal bleeding. This is not new information. So anyone on either anticoagulants and /or antiplatelets should proceed with caution whilst taking with Duloxetine. There are other choices for neuropathic pain and fybromalgia than Duloxetine. Someone GP? should take an oversight and weigh up the risks of the combination rather than give a blanket yes or no. And discuss with you as it should be a joint decision
Hi! I'm on 60mg duloxetine and also ivabridine, bisoprolol, eplerenone and entresto - no issues at all my end, however obviously it's a very individual thing 😊
