Looks like my urgent cabg is happening next week...

SuddenShock profile image
β€’36 Replies

I have had my pre-op this week and been given my list of instructions, some soap and ointment for my nose (precautions against contracting any other nasties before or during my stay).

Currently booked to check in on Monday and surgery Tuesday.

I am planning on being back here and hopefully I will give an update next week but I just wanted to say thanks to everyone in this forum that has helped me directly or indirectly or has just been there for a chat. I have learned so much, including how nice people can be when you are feeling low or concerned.

Thanks.

Wishing you all the best for surgery and ongoing recovery. I had cabg x3 just four weeks ago and I’m feeling great!

Look forward to comparing notes on recovery with you soon 😊

I am down for 3x as well.

This is the sort of reply that I really want to hear! Not looking forward to the day but I am looking forward to feeling that I can at least blink without getting out of breath :)

Hi did you have Breathlessness and Dizziness before the surgery?

I can often get breathless quite quickly these days, not crippling but breathing deeply after going upstairs in a normal sized house. I have been light headed for the last few days, no idea why, probably not eating enough sugar or salt or something.

Hi

I am sure you will have been told this but when I had my daughter by c section I was told by a consultant to listen to my body and if you don't listen and push yourself you will suffer the following day.

Good luck!

Despite any comments that I might make, I am not actually anxious and feeling reasonably confident - the success rate is very high.

Good luck to you as well. I will be at Leicester, where are you?

I'm going to be in Glasgow I will chat next week

I was going to offer to wear a carnation and carry a rolled up copy of The Times if we were in the same place :)

Best of luck.

Wishing you all the best for your procedure and a speedy , comfortable rehab πŸ‘ŠπŸ»πŸ‘ŠπŸ»πŸ‘ŠπŸ». I had quadruple bypass after nstemi in July 2023. Rehabbed really well, not all linear , a couple of bumps in the road but a fantastic recovery really. Was riding my motorbikes and gradually working round our small holding within 3-4 months . Park runs and swimming.. really enjoying my rebirth , that’s what it is ! A couple of tweaks to nutrition to ensure I keep my new plumbing clear 🀣.. I’m sure you’ll be doing the same . πŸ₯‚πŸ₯‚πŸ₯‚πŸ‘ŠπŸ»πŸ‘ŠπŸ»πŸ‘ŠπŸ» Loving life

Congratulations, I am hoping to be doing the same sort of things except my wife and daughter banned me from motorbikes years ago (for no reason I would add other than dirty clothes and washing mud off on the patio!)

Good Luck with your surgery and your recovery. I had my triple just over a year ago and remember for some people recovery takes longer than others. So take each day as it comes and lets us know how you are getting on.

Good luck, had CABGx3 and mitral valve repair 11 weeks ago, have been signed off by surgeon, physios and rehab nurse just waiting for cholesterol results and she’s going to sign me off, do everything they tell you do and keep a positive frame of mind, I’m back in the gym a couple of times a week and next week I flying out to Spain.

I’m sure it will all go well and you’ll be home by next weekend.

Just remember a cushion for when you cough and sneeze and this is one of the most major operations you can have so don’t panic afterwards it takes time to recover. Good luckπŸ™
