I have recently seen a couple of posts about taking/not taking Bisoprolol if you have asthma, but does that relate to those inhalers containing Salbutamol sulfate I have been taking 5mg of Bisoprolol twice a day for the past 12 years. (Paroxysmal Afb) plus the same of Ramipril and Doxazosin. Some years ago after v.bad chest infection was prescribed inhaler on an as needed basis. Hardly ever used it, but after another chest infection I was seen by the asthma nurse at my surgery's clinic. Had various puffing tests and told I had Asthma. Now on a preventative inhaler Clenil Modulite, 2xpuffs twice a day. No one has ever mentioned any problems with this and bisoprolol. Can anyone throw any further light on this, before I go rushing off to try and contact the surgery. TIA.

Bisoprolol And Asthma
Your local pharmacist should be able to advise you on this. Otherwise your inhaler is apparently a branded version of beclometasone dipropionate and you can search for any interactions yourself, of which there appear to be none.
Hello
I take a brown inhaler as well as a blue if needed
I am on Bisoprolol who the Consultants put me on the Surgeon has kept me on and so has my Doctor all knowing I have Asthma
Not sure if this helps but as said you could phone your pharmacist and just check
Let us know how you get on x
betablockers are not recommended for those with asthma as they affect the lung function. bisoprolol doesn’t have as bad as an effect as for example propanolol which is a non-selective betablocker though asthma attacks can occur in both. using inhalers with bisoprolol is very counter-intuitive, because they both have opposing effects, reducing the benefits of both medications. i’d speak to your cardiologist to recommend an alternative medication as stopping the inhalers would make you worse off
Hi there. This is because inhalers are beta agonists which basically means they relax and widen the airway told help with breathing. Beta blockers such as bisoprolol are cardio selective or non cardio selective. Meaning some work on the heart the others work on the heart and on other areas of the body (I take bisoprolol myself and im asthmatic) Beta blockers are beta antagonist which can prevent the receptors of the inhaler agonists latching on. Thus the medication may not work. However one size does not fit all so its best to speak to your pharmacist or GP about what is right for you. I take my blue ventolin inhaler with no problems. I dont take any other inhalers. Thats the jist of it anyway.
I am on a Seretide preventer inhaler. I was prescribed Bisoprolol for afib 4 years ago and don't seem to have had any problems. The doctor knows I am asthmatic and on the inhaler.
I had an asthma diagnosis of long standing prior to my cardiac arrest. I was similarly prescribed bisoprolol long-term in conjunction with Ramipril etc and suffered no ill effects, however my ‘event’ was thought to be a result of a severe chest infection and after recovery my cardiologist referred me to the respiratory dept who promptly refuted my asthma diagnosis of 20+ years and corrected it to mild copd prescribing Fostair inhalers.
Maybe the asthma diagnosis is worth questioning rather than the your heart medication?
Hope this helps, seek professional assistance not hearsay though.
i support what GDix2020 says - i had breathing problems and dizziness on Bisoprolol and was not using any inhalers - bisoprolol was stopped - a couple of years later i was diagnosed with asthma, which i had had all along, but did not know
