Asthma with Significant Heart Failure?

I was diagnosed with Significant Heart Failure, Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation, Mitral Valve Regurgitation, Ischaemic Heart Disease, Dilated left atrial. I was put on preventative medication; Apixaban, Bisoprolol, Isosorbide Mononitrate, Simvastatin. In February this year I was put on Amlodipine Fumerate to help with chest pain. It seems to have helped. I also take other medication two of which are Levothyroxine and Hydroxychloroquine as I have several Autoimmune conditions.

I have recently started with a troublesome cough. It feels like congestion in my lugs. The GP has prescribed Fostair Nexthaler 100/6 mcg inhaler. Two puffs mornings and evenings. After taking the inhaler I come over all shaking and trembling. I was wondering if this is normal? Has anyone had Asthma develop with a heart condition.? Thank you for any help with this.

Thank you. The GP was here the other day and prescribed the inhaler. He said to phone him in a couple of weeks to let him know how I'm getting on with it. Ok right I didn't know about the British Lung Association I'll have a look later. Many thanks. Stay safe and well.

Hello have you still got a heart failure nurse? Might be worth trying to speak to them. As you have lots of conditions it might be good to check it's not something heart related. I don't know about inhalers but it doesn't sound right to have those reactions, I'd also check with the GP. take care x

Hi Hearty1, I've had Asthma for many years and for the last five have suffered AF which has now got more severe and I'm undergoing treatment for that. As for the Asthma I am taking the same inhaler as you plus Ventolin when I need it, the Fostair 100/6 I take with a Aerochamber which is much more efficient than just breathing from the actuator and works much better and quicker, if you haven't tried a chamber it might help. The shaking you get might also indicate that you are have a reaction against the drug so it may be a good idea to visit your asthma clinic to discuss this and maybe find something more suitable for you.

That's a shame that you have developed AF too. The medication will help. I've been on it for three years and hardly ever feel the AF now. I have never had an inhaler before and I know nothing about them. This is the first time Asthma has been mentioned. Yes will be contacting the Doctor who prescribed the Fostair Nexthaler to let him know about the shaking and see what he decides. Many thanks for your help with this. I hope you are keeping safe and well. With best wishes.

No don't take meds to clear water. Yes I cough worse during the night but not so much now when I use the inhaler. Yes have a higher pillow to try to help it. I wonder if it is the medication that's causing the cough. If it is perhaps I don't need the inhaler. Many thanks for your help with this. Best wishes.
