can anyone recommend an insurance provider to cover travel within the EU. I have been diagnosed with heart failure but have effective medication and my doctor says ok to travel.

I have used Staysure before - they covered the normal things but I had to declare stable angina and prospective CABG - I upgraded to higher medical costs, repatriation etc

Needless to say I didn’t need to claim so can’t comment on their claims payment process but worth getting a quote I think.

Depending on age, have you looked at banks that provide Worldwide travel insurance? If you are a regular traveller they can be very reasonable. You do have to notify them of previous medical conditions and a supplement will be charged. Some charge a monthly fee which can work out cheaper overall, and some banks go up to 79 years old for travellers.

But don't bother with HSBC, I've banked with them for 45 years , but they withdraw all travel insurance cover at age 70, regardless of any medical status. But my friend has cover with Lloyd's bank and she is 74.

I recently got travel insurance with Staysure. Check them out. It's a very straight forward process. You just enter your details, medical conditions etc and will be given a quote. Good luck.
