Had stent inserted following heart attack back in Sept 22.
Am going on holiday to Morocco with friends this April (23) and have heard it might end up being expensive getting travel insurance now following the heart attack.
Any tips or info to share on travel insurance companies you used who you might recommend (hope that’s allowed).

try goodtogoinsurance . Your insurance will depend on if you’ve had any unplanned visit to hospital, any ongoing investigations and medical history , make sure you are honest. I managed to get full year European insurance £230, 61 male previous heart attack, af, arthritis, brain aneurysm, to mention a few. Unfortunately I have had a change in medication and a visit to A&E with AF, I informed my insurance and for the remaining of the insurance they wanted another £220 , so cancelled insurance.
My wife and I have travel insurance via our bank (it's a package of benefits called First Directory with First Direct Bank, part of HSBC); when I had my heart attack in 2016 and had a stent fitted, I notified them with all the details and they were absolutely fine with it so we've stayed with them. It costs £15 per month and, apart from worldwide travel insurance, includes breakdown cover for my wife's car and mobile phone insurance amongst other things. I've never had to claim so don't know what they're like from that perspective.
Hello I would be very careful here re the banks insurance did they go through the medical screening with you? Please check again with them its too cheap. I understand the package you have. As with most of the related posts costs will vary a bit from £200 to £300 couple European etc in that area. The medical screening questions normally are the same with most insurance companies just the cost varies quite a bit. Comparison sites a good start or better still your local insurance broker. Hope that helps. All Clear seem quite popular if a little on the high side premium wise, but decent cover.
My bank said they could add the medical cover for an additional fee but had to advise me I could get cover cheaper elsewhere. After a week of failing to find anything cheaper I got back to them and they went through the medical questionnaire and said they couldn't cover me.
I joined HealthUnlocked to get advice and the opinion then was StaySure was me best bet. Their single trip policy was as much as the bank quoted to a year's cover, but it got me what I needed.
Try a comparison site for travel insurance for those with pre-existing health conditions and go from there. We are all different in terms of risk for health conditions, age, gender, length of cover and where we want to go and insurance companies assess that risk differently. For example Staysure often get mentioned on here yet they wouldn't insure me last year whereas Allclear who also are mentioned would insure me. And my experience is that assuming you can find insurance the premiums vary considerably.
Having read various online reviews I decided to get quotes from StaySure and AllClear and for almost identical policy All-Clear was the cheaper one so I got it.
morning Louise, I was in a similar position last year. Booked a holiday to Thailand Jan 22, and got annual insurance. Heart attack end of February 22…. The insurance company refused to cover me fir the heart attack. As I had time, I cancelled the insurance and 6months later reapplied online to various companies. Yes the cost has risen but I did get full cover. Try Allclear. You may pay a high cost due to the nearness of your holiday though. Returned yesterday from Thailand having gad a blast. Hope you have a speedy recovery and enjoy your holiday xxxx
Hi.In July we went to Malaga and for one week insurance was £153 for family of four with Staysure. I had heart attack and stent in April 21 and my son has a bicuspid aortic valve with(at that time) moderate incompetence. He is nkw severe so i imagine it might go up a bit in price for this year ...
Can't help with insurance, but a suggestion....Take a copy of your details of what procedures were performed for you (if you have that info). The information helped a UK A&E doctor a lot with me after I collapsed just after I had a stent inserted. I was in a totally different area of the country on holiday. This was over 4 years ago now, but the info still goes on holiday when I travel.
I used Avanti....cost 150pound for week probably could of gotten a yearly for not much more but...I had only received my diagnosis the day before so head was all over...I watched The Three Women Woman on BBC on the morning show and they were rating holiday insurance and Avanti came back top ... sorry I can't remember their names 😂😂😂
