I would like to know whether there anyone who has recently travelled to the USA or on a cruise and was able to get full insurance cover.

Travel Insurance with heart condition
We recently got a quote for annual world wide cover for the family, my OH had a HA earlier this year and 3 stents as well as LVSD. We haven't taken a policy out yet as we are not planning on booking any holidays until the New Year. We are looking at £500 for an annual policy though
The BHF has a section dedicated to this (with links) on their website which I found VERY helpful.
We used Staysure last time ( husband has multiple heart issues) and I have a one. We found it wasn't too bad as just Europe but inc Spain.
However, do check carefully your policy covers cruises as we found ours didn't ( not an issue this year.
Yes, I have done both cruise and USA trip both pre and post OHS. Not cheap but All Clear have been great and given me full cover on an annual policy.
When you say expensive, would you mind mentioning how much you paid for the insurance? I know cost also depends on the length of time travelling. We will be travelling 1 month in total including a 14 day cruise via the Caribbean to USA.
Hi - bearing in mind I do have other medical conditions as well as heart issues, my annual insurance for the last 3 years has been between £450-550 for worldwide cover including USA & Caribbean. I had my OHS in October 2018 . As I travel quite a lot, it is well worth it for me to know I am adequately covered.
I do not know how much they would charge for a single-trip policy but often if you are travelling more than once within 12 months it is beneficial to take the annual policy.
I’ve just had a cruise, insured by Staysure, which covered everything, including being airlifted from the ship. It was £76 which I thought was very reasonable. I have AF, HF and DCM.
That's amazing! Where was your cruise destination?
Sweden, Norway, Russia, a Baltic cruise. I’ve been to Spain, Italy, Greece, Portugal in the past year, and the most expensive was Spain, at £92.
A tip, which someone gave me ; always wait until close to your travel time to get insurance. Most of the cost of the premium is to cover the cost of the holiday if you can’t go, whereas I’m more interested in covering my medical expenses if something happens. My holidays are never very expensive so I don’t mind taking the risk of early cancellation.
Where are you going?
That's very interesting to know and something which I will certainly bear in mind. I've always insured as soon as I've booked as hols have been quite expensive.
Haven't anywhere planned in the very near future but hopefully later next year. We are both awaiting med appts and I was admitted with stage 3 Acute Kidney Injury a few weeks ago....will let the land settle a bit!!!
I've just taken out travel insurance with Staysure, 12 months cover, worldwide, excluding cruise, USA, Canada, Mexico, Caribbean, Thailand & China - £275 for their comprehensive cover, with the excluded countries and going on cruise the price would have been £720
Staysure is a good one, I have a pacemaker my husband is type 1 diabetic, we take out an annual with them and found they are the cheapest for us and we ski twice a year but most policies do charge extra for cruising, we did it last year and they still came out cheapest.
I found Payless travel insurance , comreally good , but declare every thing . Or I had aortic valve and CABGS
But had AF fir three months after surgery , px meds but not need know , but I still have to declare it and high blood pressure ( also not on meds )
I've been quoted 3k for a cruise from Southampton to US !!! Could not find any thing alot cheaper. Recent quite for 7dsy cruise to Europe..incl Spain was £900 +
I'm hoping that now I haven't had any AF admissions for over 17 months I can get better quote!
I'm glad we did our bucket list cruises when we were younger as it looks like husband may have Parkinson's now🙄
I did an existing medical conditions search with 'compare the market' & got the best quote (about £130) for world annual with Now - had never heard of them before but they came up reasonably on Trustpilot & fortunately I've had no need to seek healthcare on my travels so far...ultimately I think the cost of cover probably comes down to how recently you've had any active treatment so for once I could thank the general negligence of my referral system for saving me a few quid at least...
Better I would make it earlier. Indeed, I am always late for all the sweet pieces and all the best offers. Fortunately, I managed this year to ensure our family before COVID pandemics so now I can sleep calmly now. Indeed, lifeinsurancehelpdesk.com/l... provides such offers and prices that it was a fault not to use their service. Frankly speaking, last year I had so many unpleasant cases with the help that I was afraid to be left completely without money. Indeed, I don't know why I didn't take care of the insurance in advance I was able to avoid so many problems.
