any tips or recommendations on where to get good travel insurance that will cover HF - which is currently being treated. Asymptomatic also.
Any ideas of how much it would be?

We are all different including our travel requirements so there is no one size fits all and what suits one person might not suit someone else. Plus if you are awaiting tests for an undiagnosed condition, that will increase the premium and in some cases travel insurance providers will decline to provide cover. So try a website which covers travel insurance with pre-existing conditions, answer all the questions honestly and fully, and then take it from there. And/or talk to a local insurance broker. if you are waiting for diagnosis or further treatment then in my experience you won’t get any insurance. If not the cost varies hugely. I shopped around and got annual quotes from £280 to £3700 for Europe only but as the previous poster says all of our heart problems are widely different!
Good luck x
Like Traveldreams I shopped around and got quotes between £500 and £5100 for annual cover. I found the specialist companies often recommended were dearer than a mainstream insurer.
Friend of ours who is 70+ HF and Non Hodgkins Lymphoma, also liver problems, managed to get insurance for a transatlantic cruise to Barbados with Total Travel Protection. Whilst expensive was a lot cheaper than most!
A search on this site for 'travel insurance' and/or 'holiday insurance' will produce plenty of information on the subject. Personally, I use the British Insurance Brokers' Association website at biba.org.uk, which has a yellow button top right labelled 'Find Insurance'.
I read all advice here and then went with All Clear ..they were brilliant. It also depends where you are going. Prices for Europe were great. But if you want to add in a cruise or USA or Americas then it is very expensive but that's the same with every company. Happy holiday to you x
I have Permanent Chest Pain, Recurrent Pericarditis, Liver Cirrhosis, Gall Stones, Osteoarthritis, Erosive Gastritis and NSTEMI on my Travel Insurance. Initially I was dreading tackling the travel insurance mine field. I went with All Clear who were simply super throughout. We went through all my pre existing one by one and they quoted me for £700 for an annually policy. Added on are also my Wife's Heart disease and GERD. Considering the large number of pre existing we have between us my wife and I are delighted with the cost. After the first year and no claims we now currently pay £550 for annual.
I was interested in your “permanent chest pain” wondered if you could elaborate on what you have benn told about it..that is if you don’t mind..either hear or direct to me Many thanks
I was told in Sept 23 I had had a heart attack. I was then told I had developed Pericarditis. Chest Pain has been constant ever since. If I'd gone to A n E every time it got particularly bad I'd have been up there every week. Then had a short period where to pain was only slight then it came back with a bang. Told I had Recurrent Pericarditis. Bear in mind this was only diagnosed by an A n E doctor saying he could hear the Rub. No diagnostic checks, no nothing. We moved 90 miles away in Feb 24 so had to join the Cardiology queue all over again. Thankfully I got a Cardiologist that listened to me and sent me for a full Cardiac Viability MRI.The result shocked me. I hadn't had a heart attack in the first place, it was misdiagnosed. Traponin was only 100 which should have set them thinking from the very beginning. He also cast doubts as to the Pericarditis diagnosis.
I am now working with my Gastroenterologist to figure out whether my chest pain is in fact Gastric related as it's been found I have Erosive Gastritis.
It's been a long haul and it isn't over yet.
Cheers thanks for that..I also have never had a cardiologist give an opinion! The HF nurse did my meds but now discharged me to GP surgery..where I only ever see a 2 year non hospital trained Physician Assistant…frightening thanks for your input.Interesting because I have gastro problem as well!
as others have said, it varies considerably and if you are waiting for more testing you may not get insurance.
It will vary depending on where you want to travel, the US often being cost prohibitive.
All Clear was the only company I found who would insure me for annual worldwide travel but I’ve decided to wait until further tests have hopefully found my conditions stabilised as the cost was too high. I did find that they offered slightly reduced prices a few weeks later after I didn’t take up their insurance offer!
I’m awaiting a bypass operation due to narrowing of the arteries.
I’m travelling to Spain next week and have taken out a policy with AllClear, I originally went to Staysure who were going to insure me but when I clarified where I was with my condition wouldn’t take me on.
The with policy with AllClear covers me for £10 million, £250 excess, cost £343 for an annual policy.
Hope this helps.
I hear that this company are good: insurancewith.com/
