Any tips on where to get travel insurance once Angina has been diagnosed an stents fitted?
My current provider continues to provide full travel insurance but has specifically excluded my angina so I really just need cover for this condition.

Hello,
If you type in “travel insurance” in the search bar at the top of the page, all posts relevant to travel insurance will come up.
Angina is usually covered by most travel insurance providers. Staysure, Avanti and AllClear seem to be some of the more popular ones.
Be mindful however, they will only cover you if you have an official diagnosis of Angina. If it is a suspected diagnosis or still under investigation, it will be excluded.
All the best.

Oops. Hopefully I don’t get sent to the naughty club 🙈
Many thanks
I’ve just got insurance with staysure who are covering me for umpteen conditions including micro vascular angina
Over the last few years every time this query comes up I’ve added to a list of companies mentioned. Two or three come up regularly. As suggested, do a search.
However, my wife wanted to book a river cruise in the autumn so I insisted I obtain satisfactory medical cover first. She tried various companies and comparison sites.
I have house insurance and car insurance with Sainsbury’s Bank so obtained a quote for travel insurance. For comparable cover it was the cheapest.
I’m lucky that my HA (four stents) is now over three years ago and my medication stable subject to recent tweaks.
For both of us (wife has no health issues, we are both near enough 70) the annual cost is £410.
hi there. I have travel insurance with my bank. I’ve had 4 open heart surgeries and a 5th minimally invasive and they covered me right up until my 5th when they have now excluded anything cardiac. When I took it out, I’d already had my first and have always kept them up to date with any medical issues. Might be worth trying your bank and see what they say?
Sorry to hear about you many operations - I hope you will not require any more. My current Travel Insurance is with my bank - Nationwide. However, when I informed them that I had been diagnosed with Angina, they excluded this condition from the Policy and said that they would be unable to cover me for this condition. However, they have covered me for anything else.
Ive just taken out a year cover for £147. Via Confused.com search and simialr websearches. I Googled travel heart attack insurance. 22 companies. I filled in... 6 weeks since HA (if less... none insured.. I did a test run!) Also... broken collarbone, screws in ankle, disabled, HA and 3 stents and intestine op. So... I think the price was very good. 10million for hospital cover.
Wow - I just hope you're okay now!
Does that cover America and Carribean please?
That was for everywhere except those two! But all 22 providers that came up would have covered them.. just a bit more money I guess. With all my other ailments and being 51 (Over 50 is a key change in increased costs) I was pleased with the cost.
check out the Which? travel Magazine, they regularly report on Travel Insurance related to pre existing medical conditions.
My travel insurance is via my my RBS account. I just pay a supplement for my stents, age and trip extension of over 31 days on an annual policy which also covers my wife.
I just with my Bank's Travel Insurance was as accommodating as yours. As soon as I reported that I had been diagnosed with Angina, they didn't want to know.
We had no problem adding it along with 2 stents though it did push the premium up. We even had cover a few years ago when my wife was given a date for her knee operation after a proposed 6 weeks holiday in the US. They even said she would be covered if she needed to have it done whilst away should an emergency have occurred.
Hi I use insurancewith.com they specialise in pre existing conditions, I have found there prices are very competitive. I hope you get cover and have a great holiday. Char
Hello, my Brother who is 90 & going on holiday to France, has just got insured with OK to travel, recommended by Heart Foundation. Hope this helps.
It's really hard to get cover(heart is not a word they like). I had an angioplasty 31 years ago, no stent, have tried everywhere for travel insurance, no luck at all. Best get your Ghic covers Europe (public hospitals), or join a bank that gives you travel insurance. Your very lucky your ok for other problems, I can't get basic accident cover even after declaring my current health only other prob, Atrial flutter. My condition is Stable controlled by medication. My local Heart clinic specialist nurse said the British heart association can ref to some insurers who have more compassion. Your angioplasty + stents is like having a new tyre on your car, not much of a chance of a blowout !!! Good Luck with your search.
you don’t say how old you are, but we have an annual policy with Saga for European cover, hubby had a heart attack, angiogram & 2 stents and a PE last Sept and they continued to cover him for an additional premium covered after waiting 6 weeks and getting fit to fly from Dr. He has other medical conditions too and policy went up by about £80
It's always very expensive but I am currently travelling in US with my angina ( tho no stents) covered by Avanti having tried a few others. That one offered marginally lower premium.
