Travel health insurance.

I have seen previously that there have been recommendations on here for insurance companies.

We would like to fly to NZ for 6 weeks in January.

I have had a CBG, AVR and DDD pacemaker in Aug 2018; and Triclip in August 2021.

May I please have any suggestions for suitable travel health insurance?

I usually recommend going for StaySure or AllClear. If you are looking for a worldwide policy excluding the USofA, the Caribbean and cruising can bring about significant savings.

I also researched travel insurance although Europe-wide only and used recommendations from this forum. I ended up using Staysure, which seemed to offer the best cover at the most affordable price.

This company seems to have the consensus of approval…it is to be the first on my list.

Dear Roamie

Sorry I cannot answer which is the best insurance to go with but I just wanted to remind everyone thinking of applying how important it is that they declare everything about their health on these forms.

The sites are full of horror stories of insurance companies not paying out for a simple mistakes made.

When we have a complex illness it is easy to forget a part of it, I found that an itemised letter from my Dr/Cardiologist { paid for in my case } helped.

We used Allclear last year for worldwide and cruise cover. The renewal has come through this year at £400 more expensive. Did a search online and can actually get it cheaper than last years premium with exactly the same cover. Its worth trying a comparison website. Good luck

Your search online, was it with a comparison website (which?) and what info did the search engine/s need before quoting. .do any of our procedures on this site fit in their boxes?!

Hi it was an annual policy. They need all medical information and everything is listed from cabg to more basic procedures and we used Compare the market. Definitely worth a try.

Hmmm just tried compare the market online. Because I answered yes to a couple of their questions, it came up with ‘they could not give me a quote at this time’! Perhaps I should simply phone them?

we just travelled to Majorca for 10 days and paid £58 for my wife and i with the CO OP. We declared my HA, stent and Diabetes, and her Atrial Tachycardia. I am 59 and my wife is 57. I thought that was a great price. Secret tip. I got the original online quote two weeks before we were due to fly and did not place the order. The day before we flew I went back into the online quote and surprise surprise it had reduced by £11. I guess it pays to not appear too desperate. 😀

hi roamie I searched for travel insurance a couple weeks ago the cheapest that I could find for world travel was a company called Able to travel I was able to get a yearly policy for £340 which I thought was quite good .before my heart played up I used to get a yearly policy for Europe at a cost of £80 this covered my partner as well .a lot of companies will no longer sell us yearly policy .try this company and see how you get on .all the best and happy holidays

Hi there. I just sorted out a one year worldwide inc USA policy for myself and my wife with Staysure. It was £730, so not cheap but was £900 cheaper than any other quote. I have Afib, high BP & Cholesterol and Coronary Heart Disease and Asthma. All treated with meds. A lot of insurers I tried just declined to offer me cover at all. Staysure did everything online. Hi... I've got to get insurance as going to Spain in a week or so. Previously used staysure and they have been competitive offering good cover. But... Have never claimed yet! Wonder what some of the companies are like when you do claim? I know there are comments on review sites but real people on here!

Hi Roamie. Staysure gave me the best quote recently for flying to Tel Aviv with heart conditions. I have in the past also used Explorer who used to give cover for existing medical conditions.
