Feeling a lot lot better!!

I had a heart attack three weeks ago and had two stents fitted in my LAD 12 days ago.

I had a dull ache in my heart from having the heart attack, when my stents had been fitted I thought this would go away, it didn't!!

The day after the procedure, the other patients who'd had the same procedure all felt brilliant, no "feeling" from their heart at all.....

I obviously mentioned to the nurses my dull ache, an ECG showed everything to be working well as did a very thorough scan of my heart....the specialist said the ache from the trauma of the angioplasty should go within a couple of weeks.

He was bang on correct.

I'm having a few side effects from the medicines prescribed, occasional nausea, occasional dizziness if I stand up too quickly and I could represent the county at burping.

It's hard not to worry at every ache and pain you feel after a heart attack and subsequent procedures, despite everyone's assurance that everything is ok, I'm just so so relieved now that I do feel well on the way to recovery.

A big shout out to all the nurses and Doctors in Scarborough and Castle Hill Hospitals.

It was like a geography lesson, I was looked after with great skill and care by NHS employees from Greece, Romania, Nigeria, The Phillipines, Latvia, Spain, South Africa and of course the UK, they were a credit to the NHS

Great to hear how well things have gone for you. I’m sure the pill effects will settle a bit (or you’ll get used to them) or your GP will review them and twiddle.Sounds like you had really great NHS care. So good to hear.

We know low BP makes you dizzy if you get up too quick, but hopefully you’ll soon get used to (eg) just pausing on the side of the bed before standing right up.

Onwards and upwards!

It a year since mine with one stent in the lad.. The psychological effects really hit me about 6 months ago and I'm just getting rehab to help my brain.. I missed all rehab due to covid closures.. Do not miss any of it when offered.. Glad you feel better

Glad you’re feeling better. It takes a little while for your body to get used to the drugs. It is also the case that your cardiologist might to change the specific drug or tweak the dosage. Give it time but don’t suffer unnecessarily. Chris

The delay in the pain going may be due to the time between your HA and the insertion of the stents. It only took 90 minutes between me calling 999 and being in recovery after the removal of a blood clot and the insertion of stents. The NHS can go into Whirlwind Mode!

Pleased to hear that it has settled down and you now feel well and great to see such positivity in your post. Keeping positive is an essential part of recovery and I hope all goes well for you.

Excellent news and that follows the same pattern as me you may get some pains probably unrelated to your heart but it still takes you straight back there! Enjoy each day 👍

Great you are on the road to recovery. It’s. not uncommon to experience dull aches, sometimes they go away eventually, sometimes they don’t and in my case it’s the latter. I’ve got 8 stents in all my three main arteries and have learned to accept and live with the aches and pains providing tests show you are OK. The dizziness is also familiar and again can be medicine related if you are on things like Ramipril. Have a chat with your consultant/GP and they can tweak your prescription which can help. Your body has been through trauma and will take a little time to make adjustments to the recent procedure you have gone through but all sounds positive. I am back playing football and doing 5k runs…. The body is incredible and if you allow it will heal and even gets you back to your normal activities. Yes, the NHS are amazing!!
