I had a heart attack in April and two stents fitted into my RCA. After subsequent stress MRI scan went to have another stent fitted into my D1 on Friday but unfortunately unsuccessful due to the cardiologist finding my LMS significantly diseased which was not picked up on the Angiogram, Hence an urgent referral to a cardio thoracic surgeon at Barts for a OP Bypass. Has anyone any idea on current waiting times for this procedure?

I think it varies depending on the region or health care area. Here in Grampian Scotland six to eight weeks is the normal time after you have seen surgeon
Hi . My experience is I had a mild heart attack December 1st , angiogram on 4 th December, they couldn't stent , I was sent home after 10 days in hospital because of covid getting worse in the hospital. My bypass surgery was due July 24th, this was in a private hospital to help get the waiting list down, but was cancelled because I had a cough.
My new provisional date is Sept 4th. I'm back on the list for my nearest hospital but waiting to hear if my surgeon is going back to London and taking some nhs patients.
Thanks for the info and good luck for your operation.
Hi. I was put on the urgent waiting list for a heart bypass at Royal Brompton in London Oct 2019. I had my pre-op examinations in Dec 2019 and my bypass early Feb 2020.
That’s virtually the exact same time line as my fiancé - he was put on list 31st Oct, had pre op on the 21st December (where he was told his condition had worsened considerably, angina was unstable and he was now classed as “very urgent” then had surgery on the 27th January.
There's obviously longer waiting lists than normal. Urgent generally means things happen quicker but of course at a lower pace than 'emergency'. I would find the number for barts' heart unit, give them a call and ask what the likely waiting time is.
Hi, similar myself was diagnosed in Early March this year as needing triple bypass, unfortunately still waiting for operation - I speak to hospital every four weeks to see if any news on date and at the same time inform them of any changes to my conditions, at first, surgeon wanted my procedure to be done by end of May. I do believe waiting times are different in each area from people I have spoken to. Definitely ring them
