Back again folks and no grumbles this time. As you know my surgery has been cancelled a few times, my anxiety has been rising, and you have all been so supportive.
Managed to get my CABG's done last Wednesday and needed 4 rather than the 3 anticipated.
I have nothing but praise for Wythenshawe Hospital and I am in awe of the skills, knowledge and expertise of the staff on CT CCU and post Cardiac surgery ward.
It has been really helpful to hear about the differing recovery rates you have experienced and the ways you have managed when symptoms have occurred.
I feel sure that all the support and encouragement you have given has made my recovery so good.
Thank you one & all

Great to hear your good news. Your strong to cope with those cancellations then your op. Wishing you all the best in your recovery and good times ahead.
I was admitted to hospital in Blackpool for a planned valve repair/ replace on 27th Feb. In the anesthetic room, my Potassium was very low and my CO2 was very high and the consultant anaesthetist was worried that he wouldn't be able to wake me up after a 6-hour op. I was put to sleep while a TOA was done and it was discovered I needed 2 valves sorted. I was given Potassium supplements and had a double valve repair op on 7th March. It was done by keyhole but my heartbeat was very low. I had an external pacemaker until I was discharged on 15th when it was decided my heartbeat had sorted itself out and I was discharged. I had an appointment on Tuesday for a checkup. After talking about how long my recovery would be my BP was checked, it was low but my heart was pulse was jumping about all over the place. I was sent for an ECG which showed I was in AF. The first thought was to admit me but then it was decided I was given meds including Warfarin and when we got home the nurse phoned me to say I had to go to the anticoagulant clinic at Burnley General Hospital. I had to take a 3mg Warfarin tablet that evening. I can't fault the care I had in Blackpool everyone was so kind and helpful and the district nurse and the Warfarin clinic nurse have been very supportive but I'm very worried about the AF, I'm hoping when I go back on Tuesday they will have an action plan to reset my heartbeat, I don't really mind if a Pacemaker is in order I know people who lived for over 20 years with one but it was such a shock. I was put on Co-Amilifruse and Bisoprolol 1.23 in place of Atenolol and Frusemide which I used to be on. Has anyone had experience AF and having things sorted out by stopping the heart then regulating the beat?
