Blood clot in heart

Can a slow heart rate cause blood clots in the heart that can travel to your lungs. I have a slow heart rate sometimes as low as 28 and also have constant ectopic beats. This weekend i went to hospital with a bad cough and shortness of breathe and I was told by a doctor in a&e that my blood test showed I may have a blood clot. I was given an anticoagulant injection and told to attend hospital again on Monday. The doctor I saw on Monday said that because my legs were not swollen I didn't have a clot and that the raised marker in my blood was due to my age, I am 50 years old. Now I am worried that they are missing something.
