My Gp sent me for a blood test for my heart and informed my results were 180 with ideal of if a 100 now I was worried about this but he assured me 400/450 would be a problem
Unfortunately I didn’t catch the name of the test in order to google it would anyone know the name and have a view on it
He said that normally you have this test prior to a echo yet mine was the other way around due to a spell in hospital
Could it be BNP

Hi I think the test you are referring to is the BNP test. I remember having this test myself and my levels being similar to yours. I think for a woman under 70 the normal level is 150 but for a man it’s 100. For anyone over 70 it’s about 200.
According to the pumping marvellous website; Measuring BNP levels in the blood through a blood test can help doctors to determine whether a patient’s shortness of breath is due to heart failure, or to some other cause. If the elevated figure is above 400 then NICE guidelines say that the patient should have an echocardiogram within three weeks which is the gold standard of diagnosis for heart failure in the UK.
You’re welcome. Hope you are doing ok and managing to find out more information about your condition. It’s awful that you’ve been left without ongoing support from the hospital but not surprising, unfortunately. Ps be careful with Dr Google, he should be struck off!! Best wishes.
