Was at hospital clinic yesterday having a "Stress Echocardiogram." As I'm going to need the Aortic & Mitral valves replaced. However, I was told to stop my 10mg of Bisoprolol for 48hrs before test as I did. But since coming out of the appointment yesterday, and most of the early evening, I was completely whacked out and my blood pressure and heart rate was extremely high. Feeling lightheaded and unwell. At one point my BP was 188/152 - with a Heart Rate of 112. And an hour earlier, my BP was 204/151 HR 88.
Pre tablets this morning, I was 142/70 HR 81.
I also have a pacemaker and the Dr told me to contact the pacing unit today because they believe it's on the standard settings and needs to be on advanced settings...
I wonder What might have caused my BP and HR to be so high and the exhaustion feeling after the Stress test Yesterday? I know I was peddling on the bike for a while. Did the Pacemaker get accidentally re programmed? Could it have been the not taking Bisoprolol for 48hrs before test as requested to do?
Thanks

I had issues coming off Bisoprolol, even though a very low dose. I understood you had to come off it slowly, they warned me because I was already on the smallest dose, but advised not to cut the tablets.
Had to stop it 48hrs before the bike stress test yesterday. The bike was also connected to their Echo computer and wanted to see how the heart was pumping and doing its job whilst under normal circumstances without the main beta-blocker. But have noticed a big improvement since re-introducing the Bisoprolol this morning.
Was a new looking bike more like a dentist's chair. That they were also able to move up, down, forward, backward and roll you to the side as well. They confirmed I'll be needing the Aortic & Mitral valve replaced.
Oh god, don’t say that. My next fun expedition is a stress MRI. I’ve had the adenosine a couple of times before during angiograms, is it worse than that?
Yes, had to stop 48hrs before yesterdays Stress test. Because they wanted to see how the heart was performing under normal conditions without the tabs. Since re taking it this morning things seem to have levelled out a bit. I'll see how rest if the day goes now...
Thanks Michael, I agree. They did monitor During the test. I think this was due to post testing And the fsct I did all that exertion and the fact I hadn't had the Bisoprolol for 2 days as they requested. But since re starting Bisoprolol things have returned to normal; well, I feel better anyway and BP was 129/69 HR 65 all of ten mins ago
