I don’t believe there is an alternative to Entresto, I had a similar problem with my pharmacy, I moved to another and the problem was solved.
Have you or your pharmacy tried contacting other pharmacies to see if they have any stock? My husband has had to do that before now.
Hello
I have had this problem with medications several times and when I do I phone round all the local chemists to see who has them in stock then I phone my Doctors they do another prescription and then they can be collected from where they have them or you could ask your chemist where you get your repeats from if they can talk with the chemist where have found them and see what they can do from there
It is a bit of a performance but at least you get your medication which is what I have to try and stay focused on as it is frustrating
I hope you manage to locate them and you get your prescription
Let us know how you get on x
Hi Bishop1, I take Entresto but have not had any difficulty with supplies. What I do find is that sometimes the tablets come from abroad and the packaging is different and although the tablet are the exactly same they can be a different colour and shape.
Are most HF patients here in UK on Entresto..reading up it sounds as though it’s very good treatment..
I have HF and am on Entresto. According to my Cardiologist it is recommended by NICE for my condition. Only had problems sourcing it from my pharmacy once in the early days but was able to get it from another pharmacy.
As others have mentioned try/ring other pharmacies boots or local supermarket pharmacies can have different suppliers ,it’s just the hassle getting another script but as out of hours call 111 they should be able to help & have it sent directly to Pharmancy , check for stock first or you’ll be going round in circles 👍🏼
Are you in UK?
Apparently pharmacies have a quota as it's an expensive drug. My pharmacy asked me to get an extra prescription so I had a backup stock. PinkKizzie, I've never had them from a different manufacturer in all the years I've been taking them. My understanding is there's only one source hence the limited supply at times?
My husband has very recently been prescribed Entresto ( 3 weeks) so no problems so far 🤞this will continue. When his Cardiac nurse prescribed them she did warn him this may happen. Good luck hope they have them Monday for you 😊X
I have the same issue every time I go to pick up my prescription. They have to fax through my prescription to the company to prove they need more than their small quota. It’s very frustrating. I’m also hoping it will be Monday it comes in.
hi, no issues for me, frankly I would call the heart failure team at your local hospital, they will be best lace to help either with supplies or alternative, pharmacy are not experts in conditions relating to heart issues
they’ve been short at mine before but deliver to order they said so got it in in a few days. There aren’t any generics but ring your Consultant if worried (the hospital pharmacy may well have some). No alerts in pharmacy press atm. Take care xx
when my pharmacy couldn’t get it I took the prescription to Tesco and managed to get it there
Hi I have not heard of any shortages. Buy in my experience of running an Accounting Services. There is only one reason when it's isolated pharmacy's that doesn't have stock. And that's because they have not paid there debts so the suppliers withhold deliveries until they clear some of the debt. So it maybe worth using a different pharmacy in the future. Because you can't afford to be caught in the crossfire of the supplier and pharmacy.
I could be wrong but that's my experience.
Best wishes
Shabana
My pharmacy occasionally struggles but they just ask me to order four days in advance rather than the usual two. Every now & then I receive half my supply but it's no big deal - they contact me when the remainder are in stock and I'm content in the knowledge they're managing their limited supply and ensuring everyone gets something.
