alternative treatment for it
Hi, I do not have an answer to this question but I did try homeopathy at the London Homeopathy hospital. Unfortunately it made me extremely ill and I was told that I should not use or try it again due to my adverse reaction. Now whether this was the Behcets reacting or me personally, I cannot say. I do think diet can play its part, fresh air and exercise and finally try not to get too stressed. I have dogs to make sure I get out everyday as they have to be walked whatever the weather and however I feel. Hope this helps and I'm sure you will get more replies and ideas.

Hi Billi,
Thanks for answering, I do maintain a healthy lifestyle , swim about 10km per week. I tend to believe this is one of the reasons I am not suffering too much, my main symptoms now are the ulcers and acne like lesions. I have to agree about the stress and I am coming to realize that either meditation or Yoga could be the best natural way to allow my body to cope with this. I have yet to start any conventional treatment and I am looking to avoid it as long as I can.
Best,
Shai
I do agree with Billi about the dog phenomena as I call it. I don't yet have the confidence to be totally responsible for a dog as I was housebound for many months.
However I "puppy sit" my daughters puppy and it really is a tonic. Even when I'm bad she knows to jump in the car and I open the door at the park entrance...she waits for me and then runs huge circles round me so I dont have to walk far. Lots of lovely people talk to me, I laugh at her puppy antics....
Yesterday I was exhausted and she lay beside me and was such a peaceful companion.
The only alternative therapy I have tried was reflexology and massage which was utterly amazing and I gained a lot of motor function from neuro physiotherapy.
I am a great believer in there being a drug for every ailment and am willing to keep trying in case there is a pill that tames this beast completely.
I have an open mind so I hope you will share your expereinces with us.
Love Jill
Hi Jill.
Thank you for responding. I am starting to log my eating habits and my the symptoms I have. Once I have a couple of weeks of it I will share, if anyone would be able to benefit from it that would give me a lot of comfort. As I mentioned before I am looking to avoid standard steroid treatment at all cost.
Best,
Shai
Hi Shai,
My main symptons are ulcers, acne like spots and fatigue and I have had great results with diet. I am not on any medication and find that avoiding salicylate containing foods makes a huge difference to me. I only discovered this a few years ago after living with BD for over 40 years. It means avoiding all the things that are supposed to be good for you (and generally the tastier foods!) especially tea, peppermint anything, fruit, wine, raw veg. Most bland things are ok - pasta, rice, meat, fish. I also find keeping sugar and dairy down makes a big difference too. It's not always easy to stick to but my consultant was amazed at the difference and it's worth it to feel so much better and keep off the medication. I do fall off 'the wagon' sometimes and suffer for it afterwards but just knowing I can ease things up if I behave myself is a comfort. I know different people respond to different diets but I hope this could be of some help to you.

Hi, Shark.I'm a bit old in the DB. I am also a victim of the system of drugs in order to stop the advance of the disease. I'm in a difficult phase since 1 year ago I was diagnosed with Neurobehçet and I find myself accompanied by a specialist in immunology. I spent years with ulcers, pain, etc.. But I hit a remission with prednisolone for over 15 years. It was great. I was - as you will be, I think so - clean, with some crises that are normal when there is the temptation of overeating. Prednisolone, cyclosporine and colchicine seems to have helped me in the worst stages, so I have nothing to say. However, our body suffers with them later. ATT. the stress is key.
Only you can do what you want and see the signs of your body - forever. All the best.
