Hi I am pregnant with BD.: Really want a c... - Behçet's UK
Hi I am pregnant with BD.
How far gone are you? I was fine when i was pregnant but i did have a c section. After i had my baby all symptoms of my BD came back.
Why do you want a C section?
Pregnancy for BD patients varies from person to person, whatever anyone tells you, it doesn't mean it will be the same for you. There is no harm in finding out about others' experiences but do bear in mind that it doesn't mean what you read will all apply to you.
I had a C section and a normal delivery.
Fatigue was no different for either as it was the effort of normal delivery versus recovery from op but I did get an infection after the C-section.
Just as with any pregnancy, do everything you can to help yourself - healthy diet, suitable exercise if possible, sensible balance between activity/rest.
Prepare as much as you can whenever you feel like it, so you don't end up with a last minute rush and possibly not feel up to sorting things out/making yourself ill.
Take any help that is offered, now and when baby is born. If someone offers to take baby for a walk, use that time for rest. Likewise when baby has a nap - have one yourself. If people want to pop in for a chat/coffee/to see you pre-birth and you and baby post delivery, tell them you would be delighted to see them and would they mind helping with the dinner/bring some shopping/hang some washing out, make the coffee for both of you...
Most importantly, as long as you have what you need for your and baby's basic needs, don't beat yourself up over things you think you should or ought to do. Enjoy the pregnancy, keep yourself well enough to enjoy baby too.
In hindsight you are never gonna wish you spent more time on housework than on yourself and your baby.
Whoever is overseeing your pre/postnatal care may not know much about BD, so be prepared to educate them yourself. It might help to give them a copy of this: behcets.org.uk/Documents/we...
Hi I am 18 weeks gone, its not just the fatigue that makes me want a c section it's also that I get genital ulcers and pathergy reactions where there is injury and I would prefer that to be upstairs rather than down!! Thanks for your answers I no that it is different for everyone but just wanted to get a rough idea of what it's like for others as your spot on about the team thats looking after me not knowing much about BD thats's all they say about how rare it is!
Thanks again
Hi poshcat congratulations on your pregnancy! I am 16 weeks pregnant with my second child (I also have a 1 year old!) and can sympathise with the fatigue. I was on steroids during my last pregnancy which kept my symptoms under control but I had a fairly tough labour with a ventouse delivery in the end. I am no longer taking steroids so this pregnancy has been harder as my symptoms have flared (mainly the ulcers causing havoc!) so I can really understand your concerns. I have the same fear going through delivery again with active symptoms but I am just as worried about coping after a C section! I had my son in London and they were fantastic and understood all about BD and I felt well looked after but I am in Brighton now and no one seems to understand much about it this time. I am educating a number of doctors!
poshcat - I'm a retired senior midwife. If you want to talk about things and ask questions I'm happy for you to inbox me. Of course, you still remain in the care of your own midwife - who's advice should take precedence!
Hi poshcat; BS'li a normal pregnancy for women with disease sürebilirler spent. If you are using immune-suppressing drugs needed birth control practices. For this reason, the case for birth control and pregnancy should consult a doctor
