BD and chronic pancreatitis

Has anyone been diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis due to BD? If yes what test was done to get the diagnosis? Thanks!

I’ve had a lot of pancreatitis over the years. Pre my behcet diagnosis and any drugs known to cause pancreatitis. In the end I saw a brilliant medical - not surgical - pancreatitis specialist in Manchester, dr alistair Makin. When I had my diagnosis he felt my pattern of pancreatitis which included acute episodes, was consistent with ischemia affecting the pqncreas

Hi Lara,

I've had a diagnosis of BD and CP for just over a year and two years respectively. I am still waiting for a follow up at the behcets clinic to firm up that dx and although pancreas is damaged and has some atrophy I have recently had one specialist question whether it is CP - as I'm borderline on the number of criteria needed although my GP is adamant it is.

Regarding tests. No test for BD?- just ruling other things out. Had EUS, CTs etc for CP.

Hi Lara,

I to have both. I have family history in Pancreatic problems though. All my docs say it’s a toss up if they are related. I have managed mine with nutrition, trying to managed stress ( lol right) and admittedly doctors have said my BD therapies have helped my CP. Vegiterian dogestive enzymes before meals also helps.

I’m currently undiagnosed BD but have all of the symptoms, see my rheumatologist in two weeks but I’ve had a CT scan and it showed a “fuzzy” pancreas so this Friday, I have an MRI booked to see exactly what’s happening with that pancreas of mine. I’m in Canada...I’m assuming it would be the same tests? I can keep you up to date with what they do next if you’d like?
