I am on a mix of co-codamol, voltarol, pre-gabelin and amytryptaline for my migraines. It has taken around a year to get the right mix and I still have break through pain at times. I suggest you see your GP and discuss with them.

I hope this helps.

I would suggest the best person to discuss this with is your Behcets Consultant or your GP.

As Behcets can attack different parts of your body, so what may help with headaches may not necessarily the best for, say, joint pain. Some people also have a higher pain threshold than others and therefore different strengths of painkillers will be needed.

Also, if you are given the right drug for you & for your Behcets illness, sometimes painkillers are not needed. Please take the time to talk to your doctor/Consultant about what is going on. The best way is to make a few notes about how/when/where you get the pain. What over the counter drugs you have tried, and, when & if they have helped. Have a read of the drugs sheet ( this should be on the website). Or you could contact the Helpline and ask for a copy to be sent or e-mailed to you. Photocopy it and take it with you when you go to see your different doctors & show them what is suggested. Hope this helps. As for the BSS, we will do all we can to be of assistance. The people who work the helpline are all Behcets sufferers or are partners of Behcets Patients so we have a pretty good knowledge of Behcets Syndrome.

Take care & talk to your doctor.

I have been trying different medications for some years without any improvement and lots of side effects. I have recently been started on Gabapentin for nerve pain and spasm. This has had an overall improvement in all of my pain levels. Hope this helps
