Hi, I wonder if anyone else can confirm whether they have had to increase there steroids just prior and for a short time after having surgery? and how much were they increased by and how long after surgery?
Thanks, Gillian

That's something I think your rheumy would better handle and may depend on some things like if you aren't pathergy positive etc. My steroid dose only changes if I get a flare up but I haven't had to have surgery for anything granted that was always a question of mine too. Sorry can't be much help but I really think you should run that by the specialist.
Hi,
I have been on steroids for nearly 30 years now and have several operations in that time. Prior to all of them I did not have change my steroid dose at all. These operations included a total hip replacement.
I hope this helps you and all the best for the New Year
Thanks for your message.
Like I said to Tdietz my rheumatologist has mentioned this to me otherwise I would not have known and the hospital I will be attending has made no mention of this whilst making plans for surgery even though they have been made aware of my current medication, I was interested in knowing if others had experienced this.
It is interesting you have not had to change yours, I am taking prednisolone not sure if this makes a difference.
Took steriods. Briddle your bones. Cholicine helps!!!
