Hi all. Was diagnosed with BS about a year ago.. Finally have my meds pretty sorted but I am getting really bad heart burn - wondering if it is the meds or one of the symptoms. Have had it on and off for years but is worse now. Does anyone else suffer from it.. Do have IBS type symptoms as well but the heart burn really bad at the mo that I am considering stopping some of my antiflammatory meds... I take losec with them but not seeming to control it.....

Hi kiwichris,

You don't mention what meds you're on, but some people can get thrush in the esophagus if they've been on prednisone for a while. It can feel like severe heartburn that comes and goes or (in my case) like symptoms of a heart attack. Once the thrush was treated, my symptoms went away. I was also weaned off the pred, which helped with a LOT of health issues, not just the heartburn ;-)

Make sure you talk with your doctor before stopping any of the prescription meds you're on.

All the best!

Thanks. Yes had it really bad on prednisone and ended up in hospital as thought I was having a heart attack......!! But that has settled now and managed to get off the prednisone, I am on colchicine, doxycycline and volatren (for the body pain) which I take with losec but I suspect it is the volatren..... THanks

I actually am on Celebrex (200 mg 2x daily) because it's the only anti inflammatory that won't destroy my stomach. Along with that I'm on 40 mg protonix 2x daily.

I also have IBS and am treated with bentyl for cramps and amitiza to make me go. Sometimes being on an antinflammatory clean eating diet and plenty of water just doesn't fix everything
