Hi, I was just wondering what anyone experiences when they have an ulcer flare down stairs? How does it start? So you know it's coming does it have any warning signs? How long do they last? What do they look like? Where abouts are they? Sorry for all the questions x

Ulcers (downstairs)
Hiya for how long it last with me it depends on how big they are or how much I'm flaring. I have them inside outside around my bum! As for seeing them I've never really looked at them lol I just know where I'm hurting and just sort them out! Early warning signs for me is like a tingling feeling but I have had a few turn up and only realise they are there when I pee.
Quick tip if you have soreness when you pee! Pee in water I bought an over the toilet bedet (however you spell it lol) in disabled shop! Makes things a little less painful x
Aw thanks for your reply, I'm getting them down there every month at the minute I'm not on any medication yet as I've only just been diagnosed I have to go back and see the rheumatologist, I have retinal vasculitis as well, the Ulcers are a pain though, I didn't tell anyone for years I got them before I was sexually active so I knew it wasn't anything sex related. They are so sore. Everything seems to get worse around my period does this happen to anyone else? x
Hi gefm,
I have just had an outbreak of vaginal ulcers which still haven't fully healed 5 weeks after they started. I usually notice what feels like a spot initially and then a couple of days later develops into a full blown ulcer, as well as pain in my lower abdomen when I urinate. Always seems to start not long before a period! This time I had 5 ulcers and 2 close together were so big they joined up and became one massive one over an inch long. I can't even begin to describe the excruciating pain I was in and urinating was so unbearable even in the shower with water running over me. I'm still trying to confirm a diagnosis of Bechets but from what I've read online and here it sounds like it is. First time it happened to me I was 15 and my mum took me to the doctor who told me I had herpes. 17 years later it's still happening and I've only just managed to push for definitive blood tests which have proven it wasn't an std all along. Saw a really helpful gynaecologist who prescribed me steroid cream which reduced the pain dramatically after a day or two so I could function vaguely normally again: this might be worth trying as she said it typically reduces the pain a lot. She did however say that they can take weeks to heal fully and that seems to be the case with me
Hope this helps and good luck
