Pain with copper coil

Hi,

I had a copper coil fitted a week ago and I was told I'd have some bleeding and discomfort. This is my 3rd copper coil as the the last one moved so I had lots of pain with it I'd had it for 7 years so I can't remember what it was like when I first had it in.

Is it normal to have pain which feels like a period pain but worse and it comes and goes. I've booked in a 6 week check up afterwards so I don't know if I just hold out for that or get it checked.
