Copper coil.

I recently had a copper coil fitted afew days ago but I am getting spotting and blood colour discarded. I want to know if this is normal? And how long does it carry on for? Please help me ladies. Xx

When I had mine fitted it lasted about 2 weeks. It was spotting and like you I had bloody discharge. Don't forget they use lubricant for the speculum.

As long as there is no severe pain or smelly discharge it is probably just a case of letting it settle down.

If you are worried though I would see your GP or family planning just to get it checked. Have you got a follow up appt for a check?

No this is first time I have had a coil fitted.

It should settle in a week or 2. I took a bit of paracetamol or ibuprofen if it got uncomfortable.

Just to warn you, my first period on it was very heavy. Not too painful but much heavier than normal, then subsequent ones were back to normal. Period pains weren't too bad either. I'd expected them to be much more painful but they weren't.

I opted for it as no hormones. I can't get on with hormones.

Hi I had my coil fitted it a couple of months ago. It dosent hurt when it is fitted in but you just feel a little uncomfortable. After it is fitted I continued to feel discomfort in that area as I could feel something was there. But that was just for the first 2-3 days as after then it settled in.
