Changing from IUD to IUS

Hi,

So I've had my IUD (Copper coil) in for the past 3 years or so. I've never had a problem, I suffered with pretty painful periods anyway but nothing as bad as they are now.

About 8 months ago I started getting severe period pain and bleeding in between periods. I kept a log of my periods and thought I'll see what happens next month, see what happens the month after and so forth.

More recently my pains have became unbearable, to the point were I have to breathe through them like contractions. NO pain killers take the pain away. They make me feel dizzy and faint and then with the pain I become nauseous.

2 nights ago I was woken up with THE worst pains I've ever experienced, my pains dont always happen when I'm on my period but on or around the time. I also get what feels like a twisting of my ovary.

I've been tested for poly cystic ovaries and that came back negative.

Before my GP refers me to a gynecologist she wants me to have my coil changed to the mirena coil.

I've booked myself in Friday, but now I'm unsure what to do. I have really low lows when I'm on my period and dont really want hormones interfering with my mood.

Not only that, I was on a progesterone only pill twice. The first time I bled pretty much constantly the second time it started to make me feel sick.

Has anyone ever changed coils? I'm concerned it could be endometriosis but my GP is hesitant about considering it to be anything else other than my coil.
