I am so struggling right now. Had copper coil put in for couple of months now. Stabbing pain, periods lasting for over a week, very strong bleeding I never had before (cannot manage to get to toilet fast enough to change a pad, ruined clothes, car seat, embarrassed myself etc
But the worst is to come. Have developed horrible itchy, red, burning eczema which starts few days before period and last for a week with steroid cream applied. Doctor said I cannot use it any more often so I have to wait till I get contacted by gynecologist, which they said is not going to be any time soon.
I cannot sleep at nights. It causes me suffering to sit, to walk, to move around. I have turned from a happy woman into a suicidal wreck. In just few weeks I no longer know myself. My mental state is very poor, I am at the edge. And have to wait till tomorrow as doctor is not available today. I have contacted icash who will ring me but they say that unless this is emergency, they will not remove the coil, this is to be done by the doctor who put it in. There is a queue for this service. I don't know what to so any more, I use the cream but this does not help a single tiny bit. I don'd know if I ca do this any more...

Thank you very much. I have it for about 2 month now. I am planning to contact doctors today and beg them to remove it sooner than later.
I have asked for this type of non-hormonal contraception as any hormonal stuff causes me thrush. So will need to discuss further or remaining options with the doctor as well. First, need to figure out what causes this horrid dermatitis
I am not sure what ICASH have said. An IUD can be removed by any doctor with experience in doing so.If you attend a sexual health service, they can both assess the rash and remove the IUD. Nurses who have been trained can also remove an IUD.
Hi hope your symptoms get better soon. When I had the copper coil fitted I suffered from regular thrush infections so eventually I had it removed. You can go through the sexual health clinic and have it removed by a nurse so it doesn't have to be a doctor. Ring the 111 no and see if they can help over the bank Holiday wkend as they might call you into the hospital where u can be seen too.Take care of yourself and stay positive. Xxx
Removed it by a nurse. Sexual Clinic were useless. They refused to do it. They examined me, did the tests for various sexual illnesses I never had for their own needs and didn't tackled or advised on my actual issues.
I am sorry you had this experience at a GU clinic. Not everyone there is trained in iud removal but this should have been made clear if you were going to attend. If you drew their attention to your skin that should have been assessed also .
