Mirena coil

Hi

I've had the mirena coil for 5 years after having my son and I have just had it replaced.

I have had a lot of stress the last 3 years and have had terrible mood swings but for the 3 weeks between having my coil removed and new one inserted I wasn't really moody.

Now I have had another coil inserted I feel moody again but I have had the stress of Xmas and a house sale falling through.

Does anyone else experience mood swings with the mirena coil??

Hi,

I have used the mirena for the past 13 yrs and have not noticed any changes in mood personally; that's not to say it isn't what's causing yours though as mood swings are one of the side effects of the mirena and can affect people in different ways.

However, your question may be less about the mirena and more about your stress levels, I think it would be wise to focus on trying to reduce or manage your stress more effectively for a few months, before looking to maybe having the mirena removed for a longer period of time to see if that is causing the mood swings.
