Pain after mirena

I got the mirena inserted in late Septemeber and I've been getting on and off pain, sometimes I'm curled up in agony, trying to hold back tears. It's not match and I've had too check ups so far and they said everything is normal. Has anyone else had this, and how long did it take to calm down?

Prolonged pelvic pain to this degree is not normal . Have you had a pelvic ultrasound ? Who is assessing your coil and problems, a reproductive health service ?

I have had 2 appointments with the CASH clinic, and they just keep saying its normal and it will go away. I havnt had a ultrasound though. I have explained to them on both occasions that, I am in agony and its effecting my job, should i ask for an ultrasound?

If the level of discomfort is affecting your job, then yes. However, if the scan is normal , and the pain continues, then it likely needs to be removed to be honest. But a scan might give some weight to the process , if the IUS proves to be mal-positioned. You can always go back and say if they don't scan you, you want it removed. Unless there is another cause , and you had pain problems before an IUS ever went in.

I got the coil because, I've been on quite a few birth controls that didnt work for me, they would give me irregular bleeds. But I rarely ever got any pain with periods, and never like this. Thank you for the advice, I'll phone them up now, just felt like I was being a wimp and bugging them

Not with that level of pain. I am surprised after the second visit they didn't decide to proceed to a scan. Your contraception should not be causing this level of discomfort and you have put up with it for long enough.

The second visit she was out of the door, before I even got my clothes on, and then I saw her on my way out getting in her car, I honestly dont think she was paying attention to what I was saying.

Well your symptoms need to be taken seriously. I hope it all gets sorted for you. Remember it is your body and ultimately you can ask for the IUS to be removed, if you are unhappy with it.
