Hi. I have been on the

'Microgynon' contraceptive pill for years (3 weeks of pills and 1 week off for period) and i recently moved away from my hometown for a year. I have been given 'Eleanor 150/30 ED' as an alternative as it is the cheaper brand. i am confused as there is 4 weeks worth in one blister pack (instead of 3). Do you take the packs back to back? When do you have your period? Please help. Many thanks.

Hi, the hormones in microgynon (levonorgestrel, ethinyl estradiol)

are available in other cheaper, generic brands although it should still be 3 weeks on, 1 week off. I have just checked 'Eleanor', it seems to be available in Australia - is that where you are from? if that is that case there will be one week of 'placebo' pills ie as if you are having a week off. If you are confused have a chat with whoever prescribed it for you to check things out.
