We need to claim for a critical illness insurance cover - has anyone been through this successfully to possible give us some guidance. It's always so tricky with insurance companies to know what to say and how to present it.
Many thanks

Hi yes I dealt with insurance company to claim for critical illness, wasn't as straight forward as I was expecting, apparently Ataxia wasn't on the list at that time (2015) it was then that I contacted the Ataxia uk
sorry cocobibi pressed the wrong button, as I was saying I contacted Ataxia uk for more help with the matter and a very nice lady helped guide me through process and after getting the neurologist letter confirming that my Ataxia was not going to get any better and countless letters from Gp's I finally had the result I wanted. They tried everything they could not to pay out, It seems they are all to keen to get your payments but when you want to claim you got to jump through all these hops. Sorry that's just my experience, try Ataxia uk they were great. best of luck!!
Ended up having to use a lawyer to get payouts. These critical injury policies are more for break a leg, 12 months off, then back at work. For conditions that will never improve, the insurance companies fight like crazy. My lawyers found that the insurance company doctor writing his reports had actually been de-registered as a doctor and was just an insurance stooge to put you off. With insurance companies, stick with the medical facts and do not engage on expeditions into your life. Chin up
