Dizziness

Hi, I was diagnosed with SCA1 in 2011 since then didn't had any symptoms. From some time I am feeling very weak, dizzy and nauseated. I had a blood test and everything was fine. Just my iron levels were low. The worst is feeling nauseous. Maybe someone has got any advice how to deal with it? Thank you

🙂 Sometimes Medication can be prescribed to help combat dizziness and nausea..but it may not give relief to everyone.

Dizziness/Vertigo: Acetazolamide (Diamox), 4-aminopyridine, Baclofen, Clonazepam, Flunarizine, Gabapentin (Neurontin), Meclizine, Memantine, Ondansetron (Zofran), Scopolamine (eg. Transderm Scop Patch for motion sickness)

Have you had a follow up blood test, and are you taking the iron tablets to boost your iron?

Hi, I have finished the prescribed iron tablets (had to stop taking them quicker because I was feeling bad). And the blood test came back ok.

I take blackstrap molasses with a bit of lemon daily for my iron. The tablets never worked and then they make me feel ill as well. And prolonged use of them I heard leads to constipation. If you are still suffering the same symptoms your iron may still be low regardless of what the test says. Try taking somme floraux, expensive, or get some blackstrap molasses and take it with lemon juice for absorption. Make sure it's blackstrap molasses as well, normal molasses does not work the same.
