Increasingly frustrated

For the past 10 years or more I've had online shopping with Sainsburys. Now the elderly, (I think I qualify as I am over 70), the disabled, (I have had idiopathic CA for at least 20 years),are being prioritised, and I also live on my own and recently had a stroke but I DON'T qualify based on the information they have about me. Excuse me - I've tried ringing = that's a joke. My nearest town is nearly 5 miles away and I cannot leave home as I no longer drive. I know I'm not the only person with a neurological condition affected by this. It is so frustrating - now I discover that Sainsburys base their information on the Nectar Loyalty Card which I do not have. Neighbours have been very kind but they have to buy their own groceries some items are restricted. Has anyone else had this problem and did they manage to solve it?

Hi Lorraine, you could try Morrisons, Asda, Tesco, or Llydls, but you may find a long waiting list for deliveries?

Hi Lorraine

First of all, I totally understand your increasing frustration.

I cannot comment on how the supermarkets are deciding who qualifies for their online slots. I would say continue to accept the generosity of your neighbours but also look at the advice in the following link that has just been posted on the Ataxia UK website.

Please stay as safe as you can.

Best wishes

Before I say too much I am on their list, I am not sure how exactly as it sounds like you deserve this more than me, but email help.sainsburys.co.uk/help/ I have only had one delivery so far, but most of the stuff that I ordered I did not get, in fact none of the basic items such as loo rolls or even milk and eggs. I have been shopping with them for years too and a stupid loyalty has kept me with them. I am using friends to get most of my basic items so just continue doing what you have to do. xx

So many supermarkets have long waiting lists for deliveries - think we have tried them all ! We contacted small individual shops for fruit and veg - meat - baker - and have had excellent service and free delivery. So far.

The internet should give you information of local individual shops. Also wholesale food companies are now dealing with the general public - again they are busy ! It is a challenge at the moment. Hope all goes well for you.

It was same with me and I kept leaving feedback on their site and complaining to them on twitter. I dont know if it did any good or just coicidence but I have now been given priority status .. this email came 'after' I had managed to get a delivery slot the previous evening. It's worth keep trying in the evening. I do have a husband but he is 80 and an insulin dependant diabetic so dont want him to go to the shops. Hope you manage to get a slot.
