Recently, I took some medicine because I got a cold. And thank God, I can sleep all night without peeing. I remember you have discussed this issue (peeing at night) before, but I can't find the post now. Can you please tell me what kind of drug you take to avoid this problem?
Pee at night, a problem.: Recently, I took some... - Ataxia UK
Pee at night, a problem.
I have the same problem with having to get up to do a pee during the night.
Going back to sleep can be a problem.
I can be left awake for up to 2 hours.
It would be nice to be able to sleep all night.

Overactive Bladder: There are many anticholinergic drugs approved for overactive bladder, which can help in cases of neurogenic bladder. Botulinum toxin Shots have also been used in severe cases unresponsive to oral medication or rehabilitation/biofeedback strategies.

I don’t know how it works but when I take Niagen, I don’t pee during the night. It’s crazy, I took a break from it and realised I was peeing every night. I think I haven’t had to wake up since the second day after taking it again. It must have other benefits too but this is the one I have noticed.
I self catheterise before bed to make sure my bladder is totally empty. They didn’t want to give me any more medication as I’m already on quite a lot. Really does help. I was referred by my neurologist to a urology nurse & after a bladder scan she decided catheter bags was the best option for me.
I have to pee twice a night - is this Ataxia related then? Always put it down to age before and retention of urine?
I guess so Kaap. Bcausee it hapend so soon in my ill period.
My ataxia is in my legs and getting up to pee at night would end up causing me to be awake for hours after peeing, getting out of bed and using the walker to go to the bathroom takes a lot of effort. My solution is to keep a urinal bedside. I can pee with out getting out of bed and go back to sleep. I’ve had my ataxia 5 years now, I’m 58, and I’ve been doing this for the past 6 months. It’s great.
Hi Cubs fan,
I get up several times a night to pee & I attribute it to my ataxia bc I wasn’t doing that before. I’m female & not familiar with a urinal. Do u have any suggestions? Thank you.
