Burning hot feet at night.

I get burning hot feet at night I have to get up a couple of times in a night. My neurologist has been useless I'm not sure if she misunderstood me or just dismissive. My G.P however always seems to be helpful, but ìs baffled. Anyone else has any experience or ideas let me know as I'd love to sleep better?

🤔 It’s possible…this could be linked to Peripheral Neuropathy.

My feet..can be icy cold…or very hot

Yes sounds like mine icy cold in the day and when I get into bed, then hot I get up approximately every 3hours. Neurologist checked for feeling, but nothing further. I've been told by various doctors that it's my circulation, been putting my feet up even at night with no change. My G.P has done some research and says its hot feet syndrome tB12 ìs being checked and she is looking into any side effects that might be contributing .I'll let you know of the outcome.

🤔D’you recall a couple of years ago we had a heat wave.

My feet were so hot and unbearable ..I wrapped freezer packs in towels and put my feet on them.

Yes I've done that, you can get icepack socks I think it's called cold therapy feet from the Internet.🙂

Yes, but obviously I don't know if yours is the same! I assumed it was neuropathic pain and it does seem to be. I take medication for neuropathic pain.

It does seem to beà peripheral neuropathy, not sure if this is similar to neuropathic pain. I take medication for that too? NHS website takes you to that and my G.P found that too.

I too get burning feet but not so much that I get up at night or have asked about it, as I searched google and assumed it was neuropathy pain but I’m also at menopause age of could be that!

I have struggled with burning hot feet that can keep me awake at night for several years now. When I mentioned it to my GP she was not interested at all, my neurologist immediately checked that I still had feeling in my feet (I do) but no other suggestions. My feet do not actually feel hot to the touch, I think it is more a sensation, almost tingling, if that makes sense. However I have found that running them under cold water before bed each night helps a lot - it enables me to get to sleep - although I usually have my feet sticking out from under the duvet by the morning 😅

Sounds familiar experience with the doctors. I'm not sure I can cope with several years of broken sleep. Hope they can sort it for both of us. 👍

Yes I used to have burning hot and itchy feet. Kept me awake at night, not a good thing with ataxia as we need all the sleep we can get . It's complicated so these are the points. What type of ataxia do you have? If autoimmune you will have inflammation.

Ataxia causes poor blood supply to extremities added to that lack of exercise so double whammy. Try getting your heart rate up for a short while every day.

Peripheral neuropathy is not always picked up by neurologists and can be indicated with gluten ataxia.

One autoimmune condition can often lead to another.

Ask your neurologist if OK to use revitive machine to increase circulation.

Check with a podiatrist for fungal infection. These can increase with poor circulation. GPs are not always able to pick up the signs just refer you and we all know how long this takes.

Seated marching exercises help increase circulation to feet. Check out MS exercises.

Soaking feet in coldish water with a little apple cider vinegar.

Good luck.

yes, I had the exact same problem! Lower legs felt like they were burning from the inside out. Only before bed. It’s Neuropathy. I take 200 mg of gabapentin (neurontin) before bed. It helps SO much!Hope you get some relief !

I shall speak to my G.P quite a few others have said that gabapentin has helped. Been taking some for years originally for burning sensations in my shins, perhaps it needs increasing? I think there's been a case of death ears.🙂
