Hi all, ME AGAIN !!! just wondering if anyone can help please ? I am not passing very much urine in the day or night, I have had swollen feet for Months now, with freezing toes -- I just put it down to my Ataxia, I can feel desperate to pass urine, then when I go to the Loo, it is not much and slow at passing, I have had this for a couple of weeks, even feelings that I am wetting myself, but I am not !!! I am tired , and not feeling very well, the Letter from my Neurologist about what type of Ataxia I have is expected any day now, does anyone have problems passing or not able to pass Urine, and is this the Ataxia ? Thanks all .

I don't have ataxia, but I do have lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS). A quick search indicates LUTS, including urinary retention, are associated with a number of different types of ataxia. Please tell your doctor about these symptoms - whatever the cause, retention can lead to UTIs.

lottie.

I have freezing toes summer and winter and also my feet and lower legs have no feeling in them, but I know this caused by type 2 Diabetes, which I have...... I would suggest you get tested for Diabetes by your doctor or your local Diabetic health professional. 😀🌹

OK not a doctor but I would have the urine holding checked - you may have an infection.

With my ataxia I have troubles with bladder urgency and use pads. My feet have started swelling sometimes. My feet are regularly cold. I have SCA1 x

I also have trouble with passing urine especially in the night. I have AOA2 (ataxia with occulomotor apraxia type 2). My doctor referred me to a gynaecologist but I was too scared to go and I felt that it wasn’t a major issue at the time, but this year I feel that it has gotten worse. Maybe I’ll just bite the bullet and seek medical assistance. Ha!

Go to your physician, as swelling in your ankles can mean you're retaining fluid. You may have an infection, as others have already said, especially if you're not feeling well. There's a number of reasons for retaining urine, so seek medical attention! Hope you feel better soon..., ;o)

What is the colour of your urine? Straw colour or clear is ideal, bright orange suggests too little fluids. I am not a health professional. Permanent hangover suggests not drinking enough. Some drinks are diuretics, tea and coffee, tap water is best. Recommended amount of intake of fluids was dreamt up. So find your own level. Low body hydration can lead to all sorts of problems.

Swollen feet is nothing to worry about. Its a result of sitting down. Be aware GPs are general practitioners and may know nothing about your malady.

Get to a doctor NOW! Possibly Ask for referral to urologist. You may rupture your bladder if you are retaining urine!

UTIs and bladder issues seem to be connected to Ataxia in some ways - particularly Episodic Ataxias but maybe also others - talk to your GP xx

Hi maybe you can eat more alkaline foods, look on Google for foods that help you pass urine. Maybe some herbs in your cabanet, ataxia is not beautiful there's no one in the U.S. talking about it there's only me I feel. Soaking the feet are maybe more iron vitimans might help.
