It doesn’t say what it is called and I am unable to find it. Good idea though.

🙂 search for ‘life glider’. It looks as though this may only available from the US. The price may be around $645

Interesting. The walker that friend uses is the normal 4 wheel one and one of the problems is that she leans forward when ideally wants to aid balance through being upright BUT the issue preventing this has always seemed to getting close enough to the handles as when she does the wide stance Ataxia gait means she kicks the frame all the time. Also when trying to walk anywhere with other people eg shops one of her main concerns is being bumped into /knocked over so the prospect of creating something to stand inside of, upright has led me to many happy hours searching internet!

So (apologies for being longwinded) on first look this appears to address these problems but then all the people in the video seem to have a narrow ie shoulder width walking base. This would I’m sure be something to aim for but not ideal at least initially but would it really be possible to use without hitting feet or would a wider front be needed?

Brakes? another concern that someone had commented on was what about slopes let alone hills? The brakes on friends walker are “ok” but going the speed shown in the video would need to be much more powerful plus easy to use for someone whose coordination can mean a bit of delay . Perhaps with adjustments to suit Ataxia specific challenges this might work ?

Must admit was put off by the examples of seemingly fit people playing superman but trying to get past that to see if there could be a real practical use to help.

Thanks for finding this and passing on the information, be interested to read what others think

Replying to own post! Just been on the website and sadly not convinced about front width and the single brake!

Look at this, it transformed my life. I have the sport, have attached a 'lead' so my spouse can help with a gently pull or lift in thick sand or over boulders. Worth every penny. trionic.uk/en/?infinity=ict...

🙂 Search for ‘rollators with reverse braking’, they are much safer. Some are specifically recommended for those coping with Neurological conditions, and are available here in the UK.
