Hi, have any of you had dealings with Fish's redundancy policy? It doesn't pay out if you can afford it yourself.
I would appreciate your thoughts

Hi Jonsbrother
I am afraid I have no personal experience in this area at all. Can I ask, are you in a situation where you are having to make a PA redundant or is this a theoretical situation at the moment?
Regards
Harriet
Hi unfortunately I'm dealing with my late brothers estate and so his 4 PAs have been made reredundant.
I tried to claim for this and was told that the policy was void as he had sufficient money in his estate to cover it so I wanted to see if anyone else had been caught out
I am so sorry about your brother.
I wonder if it is part of a PA's contract that their employer has to take a policy like that out to ensure the PA is protected in all situations. It does seem unfair though that the insurance policy is void as he has sufficient money in his estate to cover the redundancies. I think insurance companies can be a law unto themselves at times.

Yes that's it as he was their employer he had to have cover for them and part of their cover was the redundancy / holiday entitlements.
As I said I would like to make people aware of the policies "small print" on page 17 of the policy so that they can make alternative provision.
I'm no expert but feel it verges on misselling, charge for cover that dissent payout if you have enough to pay for it yourself, nonsense?
Thanks for interest
Tim
