flair up and trimbow??

my inhaler was changed to trimbow at the middle of last September. I must say I feel it works much better for me than my previous inhaler, however, in the last two months I have had two flair ups in quick succession, causing severe breathlessness. Previously I have been pretty stable for quite a long time, the odd sniffles but nothing that I needed to take my rescue packs for. Has anybody else noticed increased flair ups/exacerbations when newly starting trimbow? I’m wondering if there is a connection or if it’s just a coincidence. Also worth noting, for balance, that I had a flair up before I actually started the trimbow, I waited until I was better before starting trimbow……so I’ve actually had 3 flair ups in quick succession but only two whilst taking trimbow…..hope that makes sense, it does in my head lol many thanks xx

Hi ive been on Trimbow for a few years now I find it's a reallygood inhaler I had the first trumbow but now I'm on Trimbow next but with you having a flare up just before you started trimbow I wouldn't think it's trimbow that brought on your other 2 flare ups I find when the weather is as cold as it has been I get quick flare up sessions not lasting long so it might be the weather causing your quick sessions flare up .

Thank you for your reply, I’ve been ‘winter’ well for quite a while, these flare ups have been a bit of a shock. It was my daughter who linked up my change of meds with flares…….im not entirely convinced, hence my question 😊

I have a lot more flare ups since I started Trimbow. Horrible periods of severe breathlessness.

I've been on Trimbow for a number of years and get on well with it. I understand it is one of the best inhalers available, at least for my condition (Emphysema). However, there have been so many bugs going around this winter - just look at the number of hospitals that are in special measures because they are overwhelmed with the number of emergency admissions. I have been bad since late September and can't seem to shake it. I think it unlikely it's your inhaler, probably winter bugs. Roll on summer! Best wishes. xx

Thank you for your reply. Your probably right, I do feel trimbow works well for me, I would be disappointed if these flare ups were a side effect. As you rightly say, there does seem to be a plethora of winter bugs this year, and much earlier than the usual January /February, as hospital special measures would confirm! Hope you soon shake off the particular bug that has been problematic for you…..amen to roll on summer x

That's what i was put on Trimbow for Emphysema to be honest I'd be lost without it .

Hi. That’s interesting as I’ve just changed from fostairnexthaler to trimbownexthaler this morning. I had a flare up in November plus flu and I’m only just back to my normal. I shall monitor the trimbow Maybe the antibiotics didn’t get rid of all the bugs and that’s why you’ve had more flare ups x

Thank you for your reply. So sorry your recovery has been long, it does seem to take us longer to recover this time of year. Sometimes one course of antibiotics is not enough, the level of winter bugs this year probably isn’t helping, no sooner get rid of one and there’s another bug waiting in the wings, and you had influenza, which I understand has been pretty rampant this year. Take care x

Thank you for replying. I must say I do find trimbow works better for me than previous inhaler….think I’ve probably just but unfortunate in picking up different bugs. The general consensus seems to be ‘ just one of those things/the time of year ‘, I will agree with that
