BENEFITS OR DOWNFALLS OF USEING TRIMBOW

Hi,new to this forum,im a stage 4 severe copd sufferer.my first enquiry is regarding trimbow inhalers.ive just been told today that i need to go onto these because my current inhalers are not working.ive also been informed that there is only one more inhaler treatment available after this if trimbow dosnt work for me. ( Trellergy i think they called it) . My question is .anyone else use trimbow and what effect did it have for you..any nasty side effects i should be aware of. and did your condition ease at all after useing trimbow. Feeling bit of a guinnea pig to be honest, having had this condition for over 10 years it seems to be worsening lately and my meds are on the change monthly...or so it seems.

I'm on Trimbow as well, no side affects, although feel I need to change it as now not working as well as it did, must add I've been on it for 3 years.

Hi Garycook , welcome to the site . My husband is on Trelligy which is an all in one inhaler combining 3 separate medications. Over the years (17) he has been on several different inhalers and we have both been shown the diagram showing all the inhalers available and I can assure you there are many , many different ones . It’s my understanding that meds can cease to be as affective after a long period of use and consultants will often look at changing them for that reason . Some inhalers are easier to use than others , my husband was taken off one because he couldn’t inhale well enough to use it effectively . We ve never felt that Geoff has been used as a guinea pig but we have come to realise that with his condition, emphysema, it’s trial and error as to which medication is most beneficial at any one time. If you feel the condition is changing I would imagine the meds are being changed with a view to finding what works best for you now , as I said unfortunately it’s trial and error Geoff has had no bad side affects from any inhaler but has never used Trimbow so can’t comment on that sorry Good luck 😊

Hi Gary. I was prescribed trimbow on my discharge from hospital after a 3rd bout of pneumonia (which says can be a side effect of using trimbow 😳). I have started coughing and bringing up a lot of mucus (which are also side effects apparently)Spoke to my own doctor re using it. He didn’t really reassure me so I’ve ended up going private 💶🤦🏻‍♂️ Should have appointment within a week or so. Will update you if the information I get is any use to you. Personally I’ve not noticed an improvement but been advised to keep using it until told otherwise. Ps always use mouthwash or brush teeth after using it I got a wee bit of oral thrush using it last thing at night after I’d brushed. Take care and hope things improve for you soon.

Tjpk - what type of doctor/consultant did you look for going privately, and how did you find them? Thank you

Hi Dedalus. Checked for a respiratory consultant. To be honest it was my parents who did the digging (they are that worried as any parent would be! Even though I’m a big boy now 🤣). They have friends who are medical or there children are in the profession so it was all down to them really. Thanks TJ

Hi Gary. I was put on Trimbow three years ago as my COPD was stage 4 and breathing was dreadful. I was also having 4/5 exacerbations per year and hospitalised about twice a year. I did not notice any immediate change but gradually my breathing improved a little and infections went down to 1 or 2 a year. For me, it made a big difference. I can only give you my own experiences and I wish you good luck whichever path you choose to go down. John

I had my first spell in hospital for copd in March 2020 and after coming out my doctor put me on trimbow. No problems whatsoever and I have been having a weekly round of golf and have never had to use another inhaler to do so.

Would recommend it, although not all inhalers are suitable for everyone.

Hi I was in hospital about a month or so back now and they stopped my inhaler for Trimbow just before allowing me home. Have to say I find it works really well for me and I have not had any side effects from it at all. Ruth

Hi, I was taken off Trelegy and put in Trimbow because I couldn't inhale fully, Trimbow is used with a spacer making life easier for me, I've been on it about 6 weeks now and all seems well no side affects or anything.

Hi, I have been on Trimbow for 3 months and my experience so far is that the first month was not so good but then in the second and third month I have seen a real improvement. It really seems to have calmed my lungs down as I am not coughing as much, my breathing is a lot easier and clearer, I'm definitely not as breathless as I was and when I do get breathless I seem to recover quicker. I have Bronchiectasis and COPD. Hope it helps you.

Hi, welcome to the forum. I have been on Trimbow for over 3 years and have had no side effects. It is much easier to use with a spacer and does not require a huge intake of breath to trigger a dose like some inhalers do. Good luck with the new treatment xxx

I am on Trimbow MAKE SURE after you use it to gargle with water and wash your mouth out as it can cause ulcers in the mouth if you do not
