Saw the Dr this morning about the cough and wheezing since starting Trimbow he says you have a chest infection despite telling him the mucus I am coughing up is clear and the wheezing and coughing started a few days after starting the Trimbow.
Dr wanted to give me Doxycycline and prednisone I told him I am unable to take Doxycycline can’t ,tolerate it and was in A&E with the effects of it last February. He struggled with this information and an argument ensued I said I will not take it but will try the prednisone, in the end he. Has. Prescribed another antibiotic . Which I have yet to pick up .
Last week I was at the QMC in the allergy dept discussing the fact I can’t take penicillin and doxycycline and they may have me there for the day to test for various penicillin s.
I told him this but we didn’t seem to part amicable btw he isn’t my usual Dr he is new.

Your doctor needs to try flexible thinking. There are other antibiotics than the dreaded doxy. I hope that either your body gets used to Trimbow soon or that some sensible GP will change you to a different inhaler.
I think that’s what I will need to do when I picked up the prescription it was for Clarathomycin and prednisolone.
I will take the tablets and if things don’t improve I will go back , I think I ought to see a respiratory consultant but Drs seem to want to do very little nowadays . I think one does have to keep going back for them to sit up and take notice but then you might be taken for a hyperchondriac …you can’t win , I suspect also they can’t be bothered with us when we get to 75.
My (former) surgery took no notice of my recurrent chest infections until I nearly died on them. This is a drastic way to get attention. I'm afraid all you can do is persist. You have a right to a second opinion. Good luck with the Clarithromycin- it was too strong for me, but our bodies are all different. Although medical people can seem a bit cavalier about elderly people's breathing problems, they seem to move heaven and earth sometimes to treat more straightforward diseases and keep us tottering on.🥴😦😕
My mother deteriorated after a couple of weeks on trimbow and ended up coughing more and wheezing all the time. I would ask to be referred to your respiratory nurse team, as it may be that it's the inhaler not agreeing with you.
