My name is Dawn Dean. I'm not new but am ill a lot.

I've just been on 6 weeks of different antibiotics every 5 days. For a chest infection. I know that's nothing compared some of you as I cry at times reading some posts. My Copd has been playing up after being silent for so long. Now I'm reminded why I struggle. I have fibromyalgia and am in a constant state of pain.

Anyone tried Trimbow ?

What did you think of it?

I've just started it on Friday. So far so good but occasionally still struggle to breathe like today. I'm feeling sorry for myself, I apologise.

Sending lots of love and hugs to everyone 🤗

No need to apologise Dawn. Wishing you better days ahead and hope the Trimbow helps. Xxx❤️

Hello Dawn, there is no need to apologise, you are living with difficult health conditions - and sometimes they are harder to live with than others, you are allowed to feel sorry for yourself now and again, - I hope you get things sorted soon xx

I’m not on Trimbow, but just want to wish you well and hope it helps. Please don’t feel the need to apologise. It sounds like you’re dealing with a lot, but hopefully things will improve for you soon. Kind regards, Christine.

You are allowed to feel sorry for yourself. I am stuck in Hospital on my 13th day of IV antibiotics and as I stare out of my window and see people rushing by, I do think I wish I could do that! Be kind to yourself. Do simple things that make you happy. I listen to music and some of the songs take me back.

Never been on Trimbow so I can't help you there but just know that you are not alone.

Sit and relax. My daughter always says "it is what it is". Pants I think it is but never mind, just keep breathing, picking yourself back up, dusting yourself down and moving forward, albeit slowly!

Take care and hope you start to feel better soon.

Thank you. I was just struggling to breathe and my sats were 75! They've never been that low. I am hoping the drs will actually listen to me today, but I doubt it. I don't think I will start to feel better till I am out of here. Mind you, it's a great way to lose weight!!Take care. Linda

Thank you. I think it's going to be a long haul. I compare it to a game of snakes and ladders, trouble is the snakes are getting more and the ladders are now stepladders!!Keep well and be kind to yourself.

Thank you Linda,I'm sorry ur in hospital love for so long.. I've been in the hospital 3 times so far this year but had paramedics out four.

I dust myself off every morning but am exhausted by lunch time if not earlier. I will continue to except when depression hits badly. I'm exhausted now and have a bad headache so I'll catch up .

Hugs to you Linda🤗Dawn

Thank you for your reply. All we can do is keep picking ourselves up. At times it's harder than others. If there are jobs to do, just pace yourself and if things don't get done, it doesn't matter in the great big scheme of things. All I can think about is that I planted loads of tulips in the Autumn and by the time I get out they will have finished. Ohh well, maybe next year. It's scary when you can't breathe. I am breathing a bit better today but have trouble when I move about.

As to depression, as with any illness you can't help it that it gets you down. Have a good cry, that usually makes you feel better but leaves you with puffy eyes. Not a good look.

I am just listening to Ricky Martin sat in the Ward's courtyard. If I get a sun tan I can say I have been to Costa Del Glenfield!!

Take care and hopefully with the better weather our lungs will start to behave. Listen to your favourite music and relax.

Stay safe. Linda🌷🌷

I use Trimbow - definitely helps me ☺️. Be good to see if it helps you after you're over the infection too.Not surprised you're feeling low after so many antibiotics. Chest infections and antibiotics both make me feel really awful. Please be kind to yourself and get lots of rest.

I assume your antibiotics have changed because of sputum sample results? Seems odd to me for you to be given them in only 5 day stints. My GP would have given longer courses if an initial 5 day burst hadn't worked. Just a thought 🤔

Take care and hope you feel better soon xx

Agree with above.. hope you’ve had a sputum sample analyzed to determine what’s growing

I agree about the 5 day stints and samples xx

Dont feel you need to apologise Dawn, thats a lot of antibiotics to tackle a chest infection so not surprising you are feeling low in spirits. Fingers crossed the Trimbow helps you and you get to feel better. at least some sunshine and hopefully warmer weather too 😄

I was put in Trimbow by my GP after having Covid followed by Pneumonia, also have COPD. It took around 2 to 3 weeks before I felt the full benefits of Trimbow, but it definitely improved my breathing. I also use a lung exerciser which has improved my lung capacity. If you would like ti know the lung exerciser I am using let me know as there’s quite a few on the market that I have tried, but the one I am using was recommended by my lung therapist, it has improved my breathing quite a bit.

I’ve not heard of a lung exerciser? .. would be interested in what you mean

I have an Aerobika prescribed by my Respiratory Physio. Really helps with airway clearance

Phill1 profile image
Phill1 in reply toDizzyLiz57

Ah…should I have realized.. confused .. myself ..I use the aerobika ..but for my lung mucous clearance.. was thinking I’d missed something else that was out there! 🙃

The lung exerciser I use that my lung therapist supplied isn’t available at retail outlets. From what I gather they are manufactured in Korea. I have tried quite a few but this particular exerciser is far superior to anything else I have tried.

I have attached a pic of the brochure, showing the exerciser.

HiI am on high strength trimbow and have been for a couple of years. I have found it very good. My only comment is to brush your teeth thoroughly after using it to stop any mouth soreness.

I have not had any issues with my breathing since.

I wish you the best of luck and better days ahead. X

Hi, I have not been on Trimbow but was lucky when diagnosed to be offered 6 different inhalers to find one that helps me. Like you I’m in constant pain (abdominal, back and chest) but I have FND. My breathing is weird in the fact I get tested (spirometry) and they say I am fine but the chest pain (maybe) caused by COPD, imaging shows increased emphysema top, bottom and rear of lungs and then there’s the fact I stop breathing at night (apnea), and they have just found out that my medication (opiates) was causing more apneas and could become dangerous (to life), so now cannot use my pain patches . No need to feel sorry , when on here you will get answers and/or help and encouragement. Stay well( as you can). Kevin

Hi Dawn, there is no need to apologise on this forum. We can give understanding and support because we all go through the same at times.

I take Trimbow, and am now on the stronger one. I have had no problems with it at all, but it will take a few weeks to cut in so give it a chance 😊

Be kind to yourself, do what you can, don't do what you can't. We are always here.

Wish you better soon xx

Hi Leo, could I ask did you find your breathing declined overtime with the lower dose? did you suggest change to higher dose or was it suggested to you that the higher dose may help more?

leo60 profile image
leo60 in reply tosoppysokes

Sorry for late reply, my email has suddenly decided that health unlocked is junk!!

I was quite unwell and my respiratory nurse suggested the higher dose "to tide me over", but I've never gone back to the lower dose. Oooops! I think that as you go along with COPD, you need a different inhaler as it progresses xx

Sorry for late reply Dawn - Been ill with a cold, so much for RSV - I have not tried Trimbow. I refused the nurses off because I am happy with the inhalers I have. salmanon, Fostair and an Atrovent type.

No apologies needed at all Dawn - I think lots of us feel sorry for ourselves at times, expessially if lots of pain is present.

Hope things improve for you soon :-)
