My Flexible Cystoscopy - and update.

Ern007 profile image
81 Replies

I went for my flexible cystoscopy this morning. I was seen pretty quick and the doctors and nurses very sensative.

The cystoscopy took less that 15 minutes and unfortunately they found a start of a tumor.

I was watching on a screen and it really did not look much, but I have to be admited to have it removed,

The waiting list I believe is 6 to 8 weeks.

Bladder cancer tumours have a habit of returning, this was not unexpected.

The plan is to remove the small tumour and do a biopsy of the site and I will then start a new course of BCG.

Options are GA/ Spinal and a small possiblility of a local. depending on what the MDT think. I am not allowed a GA, so I can cross that off. That is the latest in a nutshell.

How disappointing to find another tumour in your bladder. It’s good that it’s only small and the waiting time isn’t too long.

I can’t have an epidural because I have spinal stenosis, and GA is difficult because my airway isn’t straight - I have RA in my neck, so getting the tube down my throat is interesting!

Pity that Ern, you could have done without that. Hope they get on with it quickly.

Thank you Donald - 6-2 eight weeks, but tumour not advanced,

Ern007 in reply tohelenlw7

Thank you Helen - It is disappointing, but Bladder Cancer is known to reoccur - It's a start of a tumour and can be dealt with, I have scoliosis. in my spine , This could be a problem with a spinal, they have struggled to get in. through the discs.

If the decide to zap with Lazor - a local maybe can be used, if not - I don't know, they have not wanted to give me a GA in the past. We shall see,

Ern Iam so sorry to hear they have found a tumour. Thankfully they found it early. Hopefully they will remove it as soon as possible. Try and keep positive. Look at it as another challenge in life, you have had your fair share lately and you will get through this one as well. Wishing you well and I will be thinking of you during this difficult time. Best wishes Ern ❤️ issy x

Ern007 profile image
Ern007 in reply toIssy22

Thank you Issy. It was half expected issy, Bladder Cancer does sneak extra tumours in. They tell me it's early. and will have it removed within 6 to 8 weeks, could be earlier, that depends on the MDT. I will stay possitive asthat's the only way to beat this pest. I am optimistic Issy, it did go from high to low grade with BCG and I will be going back on BCG again they tell me, after this tumour is removed. Again thank you for your kind wishes xxx

6-8 weeks will fly by, even better if they can do it earlier. You seem to have a good network of doctors and you will be in good hands. xx

Ern007 profile image
Ern007 in reply toHungryHufflepuff

Thank you for your good wishes HH - Bladder Cancer tumoursoften come back - That does not mean they will be maignant, I am hoping the fact I went from High Grade to Low Grade after third lot of BCG Treatments, will help define what this start of a tumour will be - I also being given another course of BCG when they have Zapped or removed this. They have caught it early HH soI am lucky in that respect.

The treatment I got at hospital today was first class, really put me and Anne at ease, and they let Anne stay until I went in the room.

My Sons Mother in law has just had the same op plus 6weeks of injections into site & after a 3 week break was expecting to have another 6 weeks but all good. No sign of the tumour & a break until October & another check . It seems bladder cancer is the one most likely to return. Hope they get you in soon xx

why will they not give you general anaesthetic

Ern007 profile image
Ern007 in reply toJack70

Because of my heart and lung problems. in a life or death situation I dare say they would, but for a tumor removal from bladder, a spinal is safer for me.
