Has anybody used this inhaler? Any advice, information or side effects.
My Gp decided to try me on this yesterday, I had been using Spiriva handihaler but it was not helping with my breathing, and before that I had a bad experience with trimbow.
Will I ever get the right inhaler ?
Hope you all have a good weekend

Hi chook, I also had a bad experience with trimbow. It seems to take a lifetime to find what works for you as I'm still trying different ones for my copd. If you find this one works for you (which I hope it does) let me know and I'll make a suggestion to my nurse 😉 😁
this shows that we are all different in using various inhalers. Trimbow was OK for me but doctor decided to change to Spiolto which not good me so I asked to be put back to Trimbow. Now ok
I was taken off Seretide back in 2012 and told it was because of a long term adverse side effect. It also just so happens that the replacement was nearly half the price. (£33 as against £58). No complaints as Fostair is fine for me and saves money for the seriously underfunded NHS.
Hi Simon it’s going ok at the moment, I have not noticed any difference with the breathlessness yet, but I need to give it a few weeks. Thank you for asking x
hi , I hope you find one that works for you. I went through 6 different inhalers before I found the one that worked for me and it took just over a year but number six was the one for me and that was Spiolto Respmimat. Good luck in the future. Kevin
I was put on Trimbow after a bad exacerbation. Before that I was on Fostair for years. Apart from a slight shakiness when starting Fostair I have had no problems with either but always had difficulty with the powder ones in my earlier stages.
Hi Issy. I used to be on spiriva but because I was using my blue inhaler to much they swapped spiriva with spiolto which has the same ingredients with an added 3rd ingredient being that of the blue inhaler. I like spiolto because I no longer have to over-use my blue inhaler. At most, I use blue inhaler only once or twice a day when weather conditions are not good. .....Spiolto works for me, fingers crossed it works for you.... good luck Issy🍀x
I think the pharmacist said it was a cheaper alternative to trimbow. They are all very expensive though. Less mucus is good, I might not have to take the carbocisteine. Thank you Lutontown
I currently use spiolto, been on it nearly a year, originally on spiriva, I had a lung function test last year after 4 yrs, my results were quite low,I'm now borderline severe COPD, the lung nurse decided to change, I have not noticed any difference and certainly no side effects. Stay safe.
I also have borderline severe copd. That’s good news to know ,that It is working for you with no side effects. Hopefully it will continue to benefit you. I feel quite positive now it will benefit me also. Thank you
I use the Spiolto Respimat inhaler and i've never had any problem with it. I had more difficulty putting it together the first time than any side effects. I've been using it for about one year and it's fine. I also had no problem with Trimbow either. To be fair i've never had any side effects from any inhaler, it's been a question of will it do any good? They don't usually do much good.
Thank you majjic I also wondered at first how ,it was put together. 😂 It’s good to hear ,you have had no problems with any inhalers. Trimbow was definitely not for me maybe it was too strong. I hope Spiolto Respimat helps my breathing, nothing has been much good so far.
Hi. I take Spiriva Respimat (Tiotropium) as well as Fostair. Seem to be fine on them both. As I understand it they work on different muscles in the lungs the Tiotropium on the long smooth muscles?? Not sure if this is any help 😂 and not sure if the one you’re asking about is different or similar as to how it works?
I have been on it for a few years and can’t say I have any noticeable side effects. I have acid reflux but don’t know if it is related to the inhaler. I also have a dry mouth overnight but again don’t know if it is related to the inhaler. I sometimes wonder how much good it does but if I do miss taking it for whatever reason I do feel the difference.
Thank you jackdup. The spiriva used to dry my mouth. I suppose we have to put up with some unpleasant symptoms to get the benefit to breathe easier. Iam glad it works for you.
One of the components is Spiriva so suspect you may experience dry mouth with this as well. Mine is mainly when I sleep as it seems my nose gets blocked up overnight so often sleep with my mouth open. I think we would all like to see more improvement in our breathing from our inhaler but often it is just subtle so one doesn’t realize there is some improvement unless you don’t take it. Good luck and I hope it helps you,
I’m on Trelegy Ellipta and I’ve been fine on it. I’ve never heard of Spiolto inhaler. Hope it goes well for you. Also never realised how many inhalers there are!
Hi, I was on Spioloto plus Fostair for a few years with no problem. Recently offered to go on Trixeo which is just one inhaler twice a day. Proving very good for over a year. Hope that helps
Thank you Jehinch. For the positive information regarding Spioloto. Hopefully it will be problem free for me. Iam glad you have found the right one for yourself.
I have been on Spiolto respimat for years now. No side effects and much better than the powder ones for me I find, hardly ever any mucos or coughing, I have it for COPD
I’m on spiolto too, I thought it wasn’t helping but do notice when I don’t take it. It’s nice just having to use 1 inhaler once a day. I was taking it wrong though, I booked in with the nurse to check I was taking it correctly but I was taking it in too fast lol. Good luck with it x
I use Stiolto (in the US) I also started on Spiriva, but it wasn't working as well as hoped. The Stiolto has the second medication (olodaterol) and the tiotropium which is in the Spiriva. I have had no adverse effects with this inhaler, have been using it for 1 1/2 years. I hope it works well for you. Finding one that works is sometimes a process. Be well, Angie
