Spiolto Respimat

I have been prescribed Spiolto Respimat for my COPD . I have been fortunate to have never suffered from any mucus, either on chest or nasal. Since using I have noticed green phlegm when blowing my nose first thing in the morning. How do others feel using Spiolto , do you feel better ?

Hello, Thank you for your reply. I was on Fostair a few years ago but found it was not suitable for me. I have been just using ventolin as needed. but the nurse has started me on Spiolto about a month ago. Seems fine, although I cannot say I feel much benefit at the moment from it. I do hope you will soon feel better, It is scary when you cannot get your breath.

I have Fostair and the short acting Atrovent, the same type of drug, just Spiolto Respimat is longer lasting.

Hello Ern, Thank you for your reply. So far I seem to be O.K. on Spiolto. I was on Fostair but it caused a very husky voice and awful cramps. Stay well.

I was on Spiriva - I was changed to Fostair even though I was OK with Spiriva, both the same fo me. . I take the short acting verion Spiolto Respimat as a preventer, but with me and COPD, it works better as a reliever, better than the blue kinds, If you symptoms persist, youmay be better seeingyourGPfor opinion.

Hi Issy, Thank you for your reply. I have read all of the comments in your previous post. Most people seem to be O.K. on Spiolto. I have only used it for about a month and feel fine apart from getting cramps a lot which I am prone to and also a croaky voice to start with. Thank you again for your reply.

I've been using spiolto respimat for years, it's the best inhaler I've ever used and yes I find it does produce a little phlegm but this stupid stuff needs to be removed from the airways anyway so it's a win-win. Send regular samples of your phlegm to your doctor incase of infection. With this inhaler I don't need to use my blue Salamol as much during the day..... I'm enjoying life a lot more 😊🤗xxWishing you well Snowie49💛

Hi, I have been using Spiolto Respimat for around 12 months now, I find it really good to the the previous inhaler that was Spiriva Respimat. Maybe if you consult your doctor with the problem, he maybe be able to put your mind at ease. Cheers.

Good morning, Thank you for your reply. I am glad to hear you are finding it a good inhaler. It is also good to just have to use it once a day.

I have been using it for a few years now and don’t notice a big difference but should i miss using it I can feel the difference in my breathing, it’s just not a dramatic difference.

Good morning, Thank you for your reply. It is good to hear thet you have used it for a few years and not had side effects. I was prescribed it over a year ago but did not use it. The COPD nurse has talked me into it so I have been on it about a month now and do not feel any difference. Maybe time will tell.

They often say it can take a couple of months to feel the full effect. I didn’t think I really noticed a difference but if I miss a day I can feel my breathing is worse. The mist from it is quite fine so is supposed to go deeper into the lungs. I believe you are supposed to take a gentle breath in with it rather than a very forceful one like you might with a dry powder inhaler.

Thanks for the tip, I have been taking a big breath so I need to be gentler.

I have to say if my mucus was any colour other than white I would be thinking of talking to my clinician about taking anti-bioitics.

I was just put on it at the beginning of June and it helped me a bit. My lung function dropped right after to 42% (from 64% last December). I felt I could breathe better on it though. I have been taken off it and just finished. Z pack and Prednisone round. I go back for testing in two weeks. Other than coughing up more phlegm, it seems to work for me. I wish I knew what was going on.

Thank you for your reply. I think I have been on Spiolto about 5 weeks. I was prescribed last year, but did not feel the need for it. After filling out a COPD questionaire in May this year I was told by Nurse I should have used it !! I had felt fine without it but am now using it as asked. I don't feel any different apart from getting cramps again. We will see what the future brings. I feel I am on so much medication for other things that this just adds more. I feel I need to try and wait until I really need these meds. I do hope you will soon begin to feel better.
