Covid Positive

Wednesday evening saw me get a positive Covid test result after me thinking I was immune 🤦‍♂️. I’d previously been told I’d need antiviral medication ( as I’m on 8L of oxygen upon movement) so Thursday morning we rang the doctor and a paramedic was sent to our house .

A lovely guy came out and because my breathing rate had increased to 25/30 breaths per min and my oxygen levels kept dropping into the mid 70s when just taking 5 paces to the toilet it was decided I needed to go to the hospital ( LRI LEICESTER)

I was told it would be the quickest way to get antivirals as going through the doctors could take up to 48 hours.

For the 1st 12 hours I was monitored and given continuous oxygen varying from 2/8L and given steroids and antibiotics , then I got moved to Glenfield Hospital were I was given Paxlovid antiviral tablets . What a game changer I’ve completely recovered and never felt better although I still have Covid I really don’t feel as though I have .

My question is has any one else felt the same and as I finish the 5 day course on Wednesday morning how will I feel after I’ve finished taking them

That's great, well done that paramedic! I wouldn't be eligible for anti-virals so can't answer yr question

Pete had antivirals after we both got covid in March. He did well on them but had a bit of a chest infection afterwards. He recovered well though as did l. I’m sure you’ll be fine and wish you well. Xx

Hi, glad to hear you're on the mend. I've had the antivirals twice now, (first after admission to hospital) and each time I done well on them. When the course was finished I felt a bit run down but not sure if the antivirals were the cause of it was my lupus 🌹

I can’t believe how good I feel 🙏although they leave an absolutely awful taste in your mouth , but that’s a small price to pay

It is especially when you think what the outcome could be without them 🌹

Ern007 to answer your question that i shouldn’t feel that bad

I don’t think you quite understand what it’s like if your oxygen levels drop to 75% and you have a breathing rate of 25/30 breaths per minute because of Covid .

Personally I have all my jabs to give me as much protection as possible and I guess you are probably not entitled to antivirals ? At a cost of about £1,000 they are not cheap and are only given to people whose life could be in danger . Hence the reason I had them , wishing you all the best with your jab and you stay clear of Covid

Just for your information and I quote from your post

“Covid for a week , you should not feel that bad.. “

That’s what I’d call a very bad choice of words / assumptions and to be honest not very nice at all .

Hence my reply trying to explain to you again in what I thought was a very nice way , anyway I thank you for your comment and wish you all the best

Shame you don’t realise it’s much easier to be nice to people , but I’ll agree let’s leave it at that

Well I always am nice with people, the sad thng is the comment you took "exception" to, was made to try and put your mind at ease when you came of the antivirals.
