Hi everyone

Do many of you guys use an Oxmonitor and if so have low do you let your oxygen fall before calling hospital, I’ve only had my diagnosis for emphysema And bronchiectasis For a year and in this time because of COVID-19 I’ve been on shielding and phone appointments instead of face to face so I’m guessing and googling a lot as not h dad much information yet. I am scared of going into hospital but my oxygen is as low as 88 on a night, would you let it go so low or should I expect this with my conditions and not worth risking COVID-19 by going to hospital......thanks in advance

My oximeter when I woke this am said 83. It rarely goes above 91. And upon exertion it is common for it to go as low as 69-76. I never call because I’d be calling daily. But the recommendations are if it gets to 88 one should call.

Thank you, I was afraid I may be worried to much since getting the oximeter, I think I will just keep an eye on it and if it drops further then I will. Thank you so much 😊

Try putting it on different fingers and swop hands as the readings can vary considerably

You really need to make your doctor aware that your oxygen saturations are falling at night. If they go below 88% there are risks. There my be medications or advice which could improve your situation. My mother 93 as been to hospital twice and felt very safe from covid.

I’ve rang this morning they have given me steroids and told me to call if they go that low again. Your right about the Covid too after thinking it over and they said that even though I should avoid unnecessary visits I should go rather than letting myself become extremely sick with this thank you

Keep a record of your readings, log date time of resting readings and after activity, then if readings are consistently low discuss with your doctor or respiratory nurse specialist.
